Had to wake up in the wee hours to drive my sister to school, came back and got my acceptance email from MIT! Here are my stats

GPA: cumulative 3.88, major 4.00

GRE: V 154/64%, Q 164/91%, AW 4.5/72%, chem 850/88%

1.5 years of research experience in a synthesis lab, 1 publication (2nd author)

Not really sure about my LORs but probably 2 good ones from different research advisors and 1 ok from a professor

TWB, did you get a strange e-mail from Yale saying "Your application has been made available for review... etc." before you were accepted? Any time frame on that?

i got two emails from them, both after i'd been called. the first one said that my application has been made available to review and the second said that i could log in to check my application status. The emails arrived within a day of one another....

congratz JonotanVII! are you looking to do synthesis in grad school?

Congrats jonotanVII! Just wondering, when did you hear from UCB? Was it via email, phone? Don't want to lose hope for this school just yet, thanks!

It's a nice opportunity for you natives that you can visit your future schools before deciding! :D I am not counting on MIT at all, so my top choice is the University of Toronto and after that British Columbia. I am going to do bio-organic.

Anyone heard back from MIT are biological chemistry?

I applied to MIT for biological chemistry with secondary interest in inorganic and heard back on December 28th. I believe that other biological people have heard back too. It's still very early, so I wouldn't be too worried yet if I were you.

mm.. I have my secondary choice as physical chemistry. Worried that they may not get transcripts. They never respond to my emails..

The best person to contact at MIT for questions regarding your application is Susan Brighton.

I heard back from them yesterday morning (the 11th) by email. Are you going into organic chemistry too? I think that each division makes its decision at different times.

Has any one heard from Boston U yet? I applied for synthetic organic, and I am just a little worried. By the way, what is the stipend for Boston? That stipend has to be serious because Boston is serious.

I would imagine that their stipend is pretty high. Schools are generally pretty good about covering cost-of-living expenses. After all, wouldn't you just apply to medical school if you wanted to incur more debt?! ;-)

In other news, I got a call from Caltech today! I was told that official notices would be sent out sometime within the next week or two. I'm so excited! Good luck to all applicants!

For those (lucky!) individuals who have gotten accepted to MIT: First, congratulations! Second, are any of you going for materials/physical chemistry? I'm still holding out hope that my division (materials) hasn't me yet... :(
