kaister Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Anyone heard from University of Arkansas? I had a phone call with POI two days ago, was supposed to hear about official invites around now...but still no word...D:
beachgirl Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Invitations from Columbia, WashU, and Boston College (all for clinical or counseling programs). I haven't heard back from any Social Psych programs yet. Has anyone heard from Social Programs at Harvard, Yale, or Duke or UNC Chapel Hill ?

If you read the forum and search the results, I think Yale and Harvard are done inviting. I really don't know for sure though.
Scalia Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I was wondering if it is ok to email a admissions coordinatoor for a program to check the status of an application? The reason is that I just received an invite to a visitation weekend that coincides with another school's that I'm interested in. I just want to be prompt about my decision to accept/reschedule the invitation that I've already been extended. Thoughts?
starstuff Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 @ Scalia: I say yes, it's perfectly acceptable to email the admissions coordinator. That's part of what they are there for; to coordinate things like this. With the potential scheduling conflict, you have a very legitimate reason to inquire about application status. I emailed the admissions coordinators at all of my schools a week or two ago, and was able to find out about a few decisions that had already been made, that I otherwise wouldn't have known about until much later. All of the coordinators were very helpful and gracious in their responses, and even those who had not rendered decisions yet were able to let me know when to expect a decision. I say go for it!

It seems like you should be careful in doing this, though, as it could be interpreted as you showing one school has lower priority than the other. That's a complete conjecture, but seems worth consideration!

I just want to be prompt about my decision to accept/reschedule the invitation that I've already been extended. Thoughts? I've actually done this, as well. I emailed my POIs and asked them when I'll find out because I'm having a difficult time scheduling interviews. They responded real quick and gave me the info.
galipettes Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 To the person who put their rejection (UMD-college park) on the results survey, was it for clinical psychology?
harkey Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Haven't heard anything from Duke. If you read the forum and search the results, I think Yale and Harvard are done inviting. I really don't know for sure though. Yale held its interviews this past Monday for all of the psychology divisions - I'm guessing decisions will go out in the next week or two.
svh Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) To the person who put their rejection (UMD-college park) on the results survey, was it for clinical psychology? Just so you know, it seems that UMD doesn't do interviews. They just accept. And they will probably tell people who they've decided to take next week. Edited January 28, 2012 by svh

I've seen two people put their interview invites from UMD for counseling psych on the result survey.

Experimental, so I guess that's not totally bad news lol. My POI was telling me how interviews would be this week or the next week. If they don't contact me by monday, I guess I'll inquire. Good luck on your interview!

svh Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Darn. Do you think it'll be up on the ASF website before they send out the decisions via postal mail? I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure the people who have been accepted will hear next week.
