t_ruth Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Sometime around 3pm I realize that no news is going to come today and feel a tiny sadness. What about you? Anyone here anything from a school late in the day? From what I've heard most news tends to come between 10 and 2...
cardnav Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I give up between 3 pm - 4, that's when my mail comes. I received an email in the morning, so I get less hopeful as the day goes on.
ewurgler Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Well, I am on the west coast, so as most schools I've applied to are east and central time, I give up by 3pm as well. BUT, a friend of mine heard from berkeley last week at 4pm pacific time.
Dreams Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I don't give up until I go home and find an empty mailbox!
Hopelessly_Neurotic Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Most of my news has come on Friday afternoons around 4pm my time (3pm their time)!! One time I heard back on a Monday at 6pm...
storiaitaliana Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I pretty much know i will not hear anything for another month, so I am aware that all my hopes are pointless throughout the entire day -- haha!
Hopelessly_Neurotic Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I never give up though. I'm checking my email and this site all the way up until bedtime. I've really lost the plot......
gadhelyn Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Near 6 PM when I get home and check my mail. If I see no letter and have had no phone call nor email by then, I will pout and stomp back to the car, get in, take a breath, and say, "Maybe tomorrow." Except on Saturdays, cause Sundays suck with the lack of mail.
fenderpete Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Sadly my stress doesn't end until 10pm GMT so basically I'm on edge from getting up, until 2pm when I could conceivably hear from the East Coast then a lot later when the West Coast shuts down...
CAPoliSciPhD Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 This is really funny because I was just thinking about this. I didn't realize that I did it, but I give up around 3PM. Not really sure why, but I guess my subconscience decided that if they knew anything today, I'd know by now.
ohheygradschool Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I got a phone call around 3 (EST). I usually start winding down around 5.
daddys_girl Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I start giving up for the day around 7 EST.. I applied to most west coast schools
purplepepper Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'm living on the other side of the world right now--I usually give up after I check my email in the morning. which would be around 7am for me. but that doesnt stop me from putting off work and reading the forum all day long..which makes me even more crazy as I know I won't hear anything when its daytime here. Sleep is such a welcome relief (when I do manage to sleep)
Md23Rewls Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Some days I have a better feeling than others. For instance, today I wasn't feeling it and gave up at around noon. Most days, though, 3:23 or 3:27 is when I think 'another one off the calender.'
willtherebestars Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'm not done with classes until about 4 every day, but then the mail doesn't come until like 5:30! So around then, I start to lose steam. Makes it really hard to get all my homework - including writing that thesis - done.
t_ruth Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 My mail comes before 10am, so I'm just waiting for emails and calls.
ec86 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I give up around 5pm. My cell phone notifications of emails eased the anxiety of checking my email a lot hahaha.
t_ruth Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 I just changed the email notification sound on my G1 to a rattlesnake tail. It seems fitting somehow.
UnlikelyGrad Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I don't understand you folks. You actually give up at some point in the day?
