And!

Let this be encouragement to those who worry about stats and such, as mine are hardly stratospheric:

GPA: 3.24 (major 3.4)

V: 690

Q: 630

W: 5.5

My primary interest is memory (and forgetting and nostalgia) in (post-)socialist/communist/soviet lit.

Congrats! Your area sounds really interesting to me!

Congratulations, Enzian! For those of us who are waiting on Lit--according to the results board, someone received an interview invitation last year on the 28th and then someone else received one on the 31st. So... maybe there is hope?! I need to hold on to these miniscule things in order to keep calm.

Omgggggggggggg I'm dying. And I'm on the English side.

Just break all my hopes now, Duke. I'm slowly dying not knowing.

congrats Enzian! especially on having the fortitude to apply despite some "weaker" number stats. what matters is the ideas! good for you!

Thanks for sharing this, Enzian. I'm applying to law schools simultaneously and law applicants post their info regularly (so regularly, in fact, that they've graphed applications and results based on the two main metrics). It's great to get this sort of insight into who had success (and also great to see you "overcome" any weaknesses those numbers might have suggested). Good luck!

@vordhosbntwin, you are a star!

Seconded! Any chance that they mentioned until when they will be sending out invites? That may be too much to ask... either way, thanks! You've made the remainder of my work day more bearable.

Here's the email:

Thanks for your inquiry. No, we are still in the process of sorting out whom we will be able to invite. We should know within the next few days. Kate Hayles

Aaaaand I just realized I transposed my Verbal and Quant scores when I posted them above. Should be V: 630; Q: 690.

Looks like you're already batting 100 koolherc. Congrats: where'd you have success at already, if you don't mind my asking?

If this was addressed to me -- Duke is the only place I've heard back from. I only applied to two schools, Duke and Princeton

Just for clarity, as far as I can tell, only the Literature program applicants have heard something, correct? The English apps are all still out, I believe.

That's right, michaelk. And vordhosbntwin, nothing on my end. The results board seems quiet as well...

Not to be a total downer but here is the response I received today.

"There is a possibility that we will extend additional invitations. If we extend additional invitations, we will notify the applicants by the end of this week. All the best, Tiwonda"

the rhetoric in play doesn't look too hopeful.

but congrats again to those of you who made the first cut!

Haha, I was just about to post the same news! Gave the department a call, and that was the answer I received as well... Yeah, definitely not encouraging.

fyi on tiwonda - i emailed her and the department chair yesterday. that's the language she used in her email to me, but the department chair used different language; she said that they had not finalized the list and that they would be sending out more. honestly, i'm going to listen to the dept chair over the coordinator.

THERE'S A DUKE ACCEPTANCE POSTED. WHAT, WHAT, WHAT????????????????????

Just to prove how neurotic I am, I just signed into my application, and I found nothing. So there's that...

Wasn't me (thank you Shaggy). Guess that makes me 0/1. Congrats to the lucky winners.

Only two have been posted so far, and they went up within the past hour or so. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...
