ThisSlumgullionIsSoVapid Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Just got denied at Penn State. That one hurt. I had the most amount of coordination, positive response to my research interests, and overall involvement with faculty and grad students from there.

undmich Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Anyone heard from Johns Hopkins yet? not a word yet, but i saw someone declared acceptance already this week...i heard that JHU is only going to admit 1 or 2 students this year. is it true?

Sorry! my partner and I both did our UG at PSU, so I can uniquely understand the loss FertMigMort 1
abc123xtc Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I actually got accepted at one of my top choices this week, so I'm quite pleased. It makes me feel incredibly less stressed. There's one more program I'm eagerly waiting to hear from before I decide to go to that university. quantitative 1
socieconomist Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 @abc - congratulations on a top choice acceptance (I know what that feels like) which school was it? which school are you waiting on?
Emily Breuninger Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 is anyone else out there still waiting to hear from ucla???
giacomo Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 is anyone else out there still waiting to hear from ucla??? although i didn't apply there, i know there are a ton of people still waiting on ucla.
Karlito Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Yes I am still waiting in UCLA. Well actually since I am on the waitlist I am waiting for people to decline their offer
SocHope Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I'm semi-waiting on UCLA - I'm assuming that it's a rejection though. The thing I really wonder about is why there was a dribble of acceptances, a short wait list and NOTHING else. It sounds like all the decisions have been made - at least they could send out firm rejections!
wmnshlthsoc Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Is anyone still waiting to hear from programs? As we approach march (and I know April 15th is the National deadline for funding), I wonder how many people are still waiting to hear and settle on programs.
kbirch Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I'm still waiting on Loyola-Chicago. I also haven't heard from UC-Boulder or Emory... I'm 99% certain these are rejections, but I wish they would tell me, at least!
sleepycat Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Rejected officially from Santa Cruz. Oh well, like I said on the survey, I was meant to get the MA first, which I am now in the process of doing, but in a new field. T.T
avee Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Is anyone still waiting to hear from programs? As we approach march (and I know April 15th is the National deadline for funding), I wonder how many people are still waiting to hear and settle on programs. I've only heard from 3 programs, and I applied to 7. I guess that doesn't look so good. So far, 2 rejections and 1 waitlist. No acceptances yet... and at this moment, I am thinking there may not be any.

As we approach march (and I know April 15th is the National deadline for funding), I wonder how many people are still waiting to hear and settle on programs. I'm still waiting to hear from Johns Hopkins (which I assume is a rejection) and Temple (which I think I have a decent shot at). I'm waiting to hear about funding before making a final decision because although I have a preference I really don't want to go into massive student debt again. Already been there and done that.

As we approach march (and I know April 15th is the National deadline for funding), I wonder how many people are still waiting to hear and settle on programs. I still have nothing from Northwestern... And UBC/Toronto, but they are on a different timeline. Northwestern really bugs me though. Why can't they just make it official?

I'm also waiting for Temple. Think it's my last chance and I'm hoping I have a good chance. It's the only Soc program I haven't heard from yet (have an assumed rejection from UMD's WGS program)... but yea just reallllly want Temple or I'll be reapplying for Fall 2013. I applied to 5 (not enough clearly) and got rejected from 3

allhandsonthebadone Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Rejected from both of the above....where is the love?
SocHope Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) Rejected from UCLA - as predicted! That leaves just two of the schools I'm more excited about - but I'm about ready to pull on a Nittany Lion sweatshirt. Oh jeez, I just saw a bunch of UPenn results on the survey, and haven't heard either way from UPenn. Back to tearing out my hair and making a Edvard Munch face. Edited February 28, 2012 by SocHope
socquantgenderdemog Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I'm still waiting to hear from Johns Hopkins (which I assume is a rejection) Me too! I'm surprised there hasn't been any contact from them yet. Anxious!
Mamba42 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I still haven't heard from University of Washington or Northeastern. I am thinking they will be rejections though. I am also waiting on a final decision for Washington State, as I am waitlisted there. I know Washington and Northeastern have already sent out their acceptances, so I don't understand why they just don't send out rejections too! So far - Rejected: California Riverside, Oregon. Accepted: Kentucky, Texas A&M, University of Utah. Waiting: Washington, Washington State, and Northeastern
