Welcome to the 2012-2013 cycle

Since I'm bored at work, I'll ask the daily question: "who do you think is going to notify today?"

I think Stanford will be any day now, but I'm also positive I'm going to miss that bus. So, I'm really hoping for Cornell.

Thoughts?

Yes, perhaps Stanford soon and also Northwestern? Harvard also started sending accepts in the second week of Feb last yer, but spaced them out over a few weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Duke and MIT started sending out rejections soon, though I have already accepted defeat. Still holding out a glimmer of hope for Berkeley, UCLA and Columbia, but perhaps that's misplaced.

Maybe UNC will finish its accepts today, rejects by Friday.

Is anyone here still waiting for Duke's reply? Or is it common understanding that they're done this year?

5 acceptances were made on Feb 1st/2nd (who reported at GC), which is much fewer than previous years', but nothing has happened since. Gee, it's the 13th already. Also, Duke usually sends out acceptances and rejections at the same time, but this year seems to be very different.

Does anyone has any information regarding the current status? Thx.

I seek a bit of advice from anyone that has applied to Minnesota.  My status on the "Apply Yourself" system has changed from "Awaiting Program Decision" to "Final Review".  Does anyone have any evidence / experience which might indicate whether this is a step towards acceptance or rejection?

Sorry, I'm not sure, but mine still says "Awaiting Program Decision."

Last year they didn't send decisions until Feb 21-22, but it could always be earlier this year.

I saw, but it seems that all of the schools that I've been following have sent out acceptances much earlier than last year, so I'm wondering if somebody has any 'specialist insider' knowledge haha

Minnesota update.  Gone from "Awaiting Program Decision" to "Final Review" to "Decision Made".  Alright, so let's have the decision already... NOPE... "Please allow one business day to view your decision once your status below has been updated to Decision Made."  For the sake of all things good and decent in this world, why are you driving me to consider drinking heavily at 9a in the morning?!?!

May I ask what your subfield is? I am trying to figure out if they are making final decisions by subfield or just doing things randomly. Mine still says "Awaiting Program Decision."

I have nothing to contribute, other than to second your thoughts regarding Cornell. Until I hear from them, I will remain a bundle of nerves. If only I drank . . .

I'm interested in a combination of IR, Comparative, IPE and Security.  At Minnesota, in my SoP (... let me check real quick ...) I appealed to Professors Ron, Sampson and Duvall.  I have a list of another seven professors that have shared areas of interest.  They are mostly in the subfields of IR & IPE.
