Got my Purdue rejection.  About time.

Me too. Party time! Haha. I pretty much assumed at this point.

I just reread the email, it says "we are unable to accept you into our program at the moment". That makes it sound like a waitlist, but I assume it's a rejection. Odd wording.

Awesome!  I interviewed there a couple years ago.  I can tell you want my interviews were like.  I was waitlisted, and didn't get in, but I think that all worked out for the best.

Nice. Their date was Feb 22nd, but I already had an interview so they are having another one in March that I am going to.

Yeah, they gave me the same message, and then went on to say "rejections are determined by many factors... blah blah blah".  No hard feelings.  I'm glad I've heard back from almost all my schools at this point!

I think there were 3 interview weekends with approximately 20-25 applicants each when I was there, but it's possible the 3rd weekend was for those who couldn't make it for the other two.

Has anyone heard from UIC GEMS program. They told me as well that they are going to sending out acceptance by late March. But they didn't comment on interview. I wish I atleast knew their interview timeline. I checked the forum in 2011 by end Jan someone reported acceptance from UIC GEMS. This year I just saw 2-3 people reporting interview with them. If anyone has any information about them please post.

I am getting more and more paranoid each day!!!

Thanks!

Congratulations to the new acceptances! I have one more interview next week and then the season is over, can't wait to decide and start making plans for next year!

I noticed in some posts some of you know the acceptance rate after interview. How did you know this? Told during the interview?

One program told us, and at the other one, they were more cryptic, but the grad students told us how it would be... and so far, they were right.

I'm waiting on them as well. With their glitchy online application, apparently they were delayed in starting the application process, so I wouldn't reference 2011. Someone posted earlier about the UIC-GEMS interview this weekend but they haven't replied again, so I really have no idea. I applied Dec 26th, but my application was messed up and they told me not to worry about it, but then I did worry about it and got it fixed like 2 weeks ago, so technically I made the priority deadline, but honestly I don't know.

I heard back from UIC-GEMS on January 11th. They offered me two dates, either Friday, February 15th or Friday, March 1st. I sent in my application Dec 20th. Hope that helps!

Thank you trickster31 & quimica about UIC_GEMS information. quimica I suppose your dept. is Biochemistry & Molecular genetics. Good luck with your interview.

trickster31 I hope we both heard from them soon enough.

This post-interview waiting is starting to get to me... especially since someone got accepted right after the Notre Dame interview weekend.  I've been pretty patient before this.

Hang in there bio hopeful, I see you have an interview on Friday. We've waited this long, and we know the end is very near. We can do it! My first interview took 6 days to get back to me. Tomorrow will be 6 days from the 2nd.

Come on Scripps. I just want to know one way or the other.....

Keep your spirits up.  I can't figure how these things are chosen.  The numbers on some of the admits are all over the board.  I am shocked at my admit. I took the GRE 2 times and forgot to send the second much better scores (+10 overall points) to Purdue.

Fingers crossed. Hoping for the best for both of you.

Yeah, I bombed the GRE.  I'm just hoping that won't factor into the decision post-interview.  It's really hard to gauge these things.  I hope I'll hear some good news soon!

Some current students at the interview weekend said they waited 2-3 weeks for a decision.

Good luck to all, and keeping my fingers crossed for good news for everyone.

Thanks. I put alot of special effort into that app, as I used to work there and had lots of love for its organization. Its my last chance this year and I'm already re-studying for the GRE. I just want closure!

Seriously.  Not knowing is becoming more painful than a rejection.  I just want all my cards on the table...

I know several of you have done it, but regarding inquiring about your application:

1) Have you found them to be forthcoming with information or is it usually just "you will hear soon"?

2) Do you think inquiring has any effect whatsoever on the outcome? I doubt it does, but I don't want to annoy them into rushing to reject me.

Thanks guys. I'm a BME/bioengineering student, so I still haven't heard a peep from most of my schools and Boston University is the only one that has sent out much in the way of acceptances, and it ain't looking good for me...

What the hell, UCDavis is still sending out interview invites? Stop playing with my emotions, California!

I haven't asked, but I think most places will tell you the truth. As for annoying them, you're annoying the secretaries, not the ad com so it shouldn't be an issue.

for those who are curious about ucsf ipqb program -

it was just like any other interview. interviews with four faculty and one older graduate student (yr 5-6). day one includes a few profesor research talks, followed by break out sessions based on peoples interests, and dinner with assigned seating. day 2 includes breakfast, interviews, lunch, tours of apartments, more interviews, and a mixer. this is followed by graduate student led dinners and bar night. faculty and students were all nice. no one i met was out to get me and the food was good.
