gingin6789 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 walter, this has been one of the worst winters in a while for us. It's always been just enough accumulation, ice, or temperature to have school and work cancelled multiple times for millions of residents!! Last winter was unusually mild, so it probably made the decision process that much faster!
dysphoriablues Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Well I worked up the nerve to call Stanford. I asked if all decisions had been made, to which they responded "I don't know, let me transfer you." I guess "transferring" means playing a prerecorded message about how admissions info is not given over the phone, just check the FAQs on the web site, etc. Ugh.
mormlib Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm waiting on PENN as well. Penn State had called me about a week and a half ago. They were still formulating their list and just barely sent me the official email of acceptance. This is all speculation, but I'm assuming they are still in the process of finalizing who they are accepting.

But hopefully this information will help others that applied to Penn State.
Cylon6 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 When do you all think BU will start sending out acceptances?
meowth Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 When do you all think BU will start sending out acceptances? According to the results list, last year they sent waitlist notices on February 20 and rejections on March 1. There were no acceptances... but in 2012 people were accepted Feb 17 and Feb 20, so maybe they send waitlists and acceptances around the same time.
Curiouslyoptimistic Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 What a slow week! Hoping to hear from Yale soon. Curiouslyoptimistic and Maleficent999 2
avatarmomo Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Accepted at Brown. Nice program. Happy. jacib and dnl26732 1 1
gingin6789 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I agree, Curiouslyoptimistic! hoping to hear from one school this week *fingers crossed* Avatarmomo, a big congratulations to you!! Pleased to see that both Brown sociology decisions were acceptances! avatarmomo 1
Curiouslyoptimistic Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Accepted at Brown. Nice program. Happy. Great program! Congrats! avatarmomo 1
avatarmomo Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Brown is a good fit for me, still I was not expecting an acceptance. Thank you gingin and curiouslyoptimistic. Good luck! gingin6789, Curiouslyoptimistic and SocGirl2013 3
ohgoodness Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) What a slow week! Hoping to hear from Yale soon. For schools in the tri-state area: I'd be keeping my eyes on the weather and remember that there are closings and such. Both my meetings tomorrow are cancelled so I can only assume that the story goes for a lot of activities at schools in the area. UPenn for, example, is closed. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/connecticut/weather-radar?partner=netweather&unit=f (that's a gorgeous blue cloud moving over PA... 12 inches new snow! woho!) Yes, key word is "new." We've had unusually high snowfall accumulations this season ... I think. There's still snow on the ground and we're getting dumped with about 10 inches tonight through tomorrow. My boyfriend reminded me that February is the snowiest month of the year (he's a meteorologist), but that doesn't ease the sting for me :'( That means it'll be a SLOW day tomorrow!! I'm assuming Lehigh and Maryland will be closed, and Delaware likely will, too. I posted elsewhere that there are no more TV shows that I can think of to binge on, so I will be doing TONS of cleaning to make the day move by more quickly!! ohgoodness 1
overlyresearched Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Accepted at Brown. Nice program. Happy. Congrats! I have several offers, but still slightly jealous. avatarmomo 1
Curiouslyoptimistic Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Claiming a UVa interview. Excited! Really like that program! Curiouslyoptimistic and sociologo 2

gingin6789 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Congrats, curiously!! That's so awesome! I did see the first episode of Orange is the New Black! It is very good! I definitely needed to do the cleaning today though ... I ended up feeling very productive I'm pleasantly surprised to see it's been such a busy day for acceptance/interview/rejection notices!! I'm pretty sure we got over a foot of snow here (south-central PA)
pinoysoc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Is it safe to assume that Berkeley is done with sending out acceptances and others who didn't receive anything at all are already rejected?
breaks0 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) My Berkeley reject just came by email/web notification, but that was a mere formality since someone in admissions informed me a week ago. Edited February 14, 2014 by breaks0
C.Kleiber Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I'll claim UC Irvine. Apparently some delays for non-US citizens. Good luck everyone!
asq Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Did anyone else apply to McGill? I did! Do you know when decisions are expected to come out?
pinoysoc Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I did! Do you know when decisions are expected to come out? They actually sent e-mails already to check the nimbus portal. Good luck!
asq Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 They actually sent e-mails already to check the nimbus portal. Good luck! Did you apply for the Masters or PhD program? I haven't heard from them yet.
Purehoney Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I just got my third wait-list notification (Boston College, Temple-funding, and today, Boston University). To be blunt, I am fed up with waiting. Last year, I applied for several (more than 15) programs and got 1 wait-list. Then I waited for 2 months and they sent me a rejection in the end of April. This year, I have 1 acceptance with funding but still, it sucks that my application was not great enough to be initially accepted. Probably my GRE Verbal score of 153 made committee members hesitant to take me
