Got word from Fordham today - accepted. That completes my admission season! I was accepted to six out of the seven schools I applied to. The only rejection being Hunter. However, my top choice has changed several times and I'm still pretty conflicted. Need to make a decision ASAP!

Hi,

I too am still waiting to hear from UIC. My app was completed Jan 17. I just noticed last week that all my application items were finally checked verified so I'm hoping they make a decision soon. Best of luck!

I was accepted, but I sort of told them that I needed a decision soon as I have other schools to reply to (which was semi-true, but I just didn't want to play the waiting game.  They told me 8 more weeks at the end of March!).  Admissions at UIC is so sloppy, disorganized, and technologically prehistoric.  I had a semi-tiff with the admissions director after they lost my transcript (they also had issues with a letters of rec that my supervisor had sent - she had to resend it twice due to their error and she was on maternity leave and I felt so awful having to get her to keep resending it).  I went to UIC for undergrad (The English dept, there was freaking awesome, so UIC on the whole is not bad), so I don't feel awful for completely demonizing Jane Addams' admissions process.

All this said, I have many friends who have went/are currently going to Jane Addams, and they seem to like it, so I don;t necessarily want the horrible admissions process at UIC to reflect the program as a whole.  However, it sure puts an awful face on the program, and really solidified my choice to not go with Jane Addams,  I am choosing University of Chicago.

Yeah, I am finishing up my undergrad at UIC now.  Their psych department is great.  I'm pretty fond of UIC.  This is the only school I have applied to because of the cost and the good reputation of Jane Addams, knowing many awesome people who have graduated and knowing they have good research going on there too.

BUT I JUST DON'T WANT TO WAIT!  If it's 8 more weeks until I find out I will even miss the application period for financial aid.  I am considering calling and asking how long it will be.  Is that appropriate? And who would I even call?

Call! Call whoever handles admissions and tell them you want to check on the status of your application. Tell them you have other offers demanding immediate answers. Be polite, of course, and you may just get an answer. I called a school and went from no word to acceptance in less than five hours.

Just received an email that I have been wait listed for csulb...

I was already rejected from Csula and csun...

I'm waiting on one more school and that's csudh...

USC is still accepting applications till may 1st....

I'm thinking of trying there just in case but idk since the deadline for USC has already past.

Do you all think it's even worth the try to apply to USC now?

It seems like most ppl are getting into USC

Anyone know the acceptance rate for USC?

Do not apply to USC last minute. I would suggest waiting again next year and giving yourself the full opportunity. USC is a big financial commitment so you have to ready to know that if you are accepted you are about to fork up the money. I am still personally undecided and just submitted my deposit to them for safety. Mind you I will lose the nonrefundable deposit but I'd rather do that than potentially owe 100K. I literally just bought more time...

Is anyone still waiting to hear from the USC MSW VAC Fall 2014 Cohort for admit decision? I am at week 11 of waiting since I submitted my application and haven't heard a word! I reached out to my admissions counselor and she stated that they received a high number of spring applications and are now getting to the fall applications. I have seen others who submitted after me for this cohort already getting decisions so I am getting very discouraged. Anyone else in the same boat?

yeah your right! I was looking over the tuition today.

I guess I just really dont want to wait another year.

I really want to get started on my education.

I dont know what I'm suppose to do for a whole year while I wait.

And, even waiting another year doesnt guarentee I get in anywhere

Especially seeing that I was rejected from 3 out of 4 schools I applied to

and I havent heard back from the last school which is csudh

I dont understand what I did wrong

A. You try to improve your GPA or gain more experience while you wait. B. Apply to a greater variety of schools! Also, some schools accept new applications at the semester. So you could try to start in January.

What schools accept in January? I'm in Los Angeles county. I don't know of any here. P.s. I don't have a lot of money to pay for tuition

I'm fairly certain NYU does, but you'd have to look around. I'm from the midwest and applied to primarily midwest and east coast schools.

sooooooo, I've heard back from Michigan's Ross School of Business and I am a go with that!!  However, I'm still waiting to hear from Michigan's SSW.  Was told to expect an answer by last week and still no word.

I want to call, but don't want to be a nag, calling them every month.

Is anyone out there who got into NYU willing to share how much scholarship funding he/she received? I didn't get any and I'm wondering what the percentage is of students who get it/the reason I didn't. They weren't too helpful on the phone, they just said it was "based on the merit of your application." If anyone is willing to share any details and a bit about their background that would be awesome, as I am in the midst of writing an appeal! Thanks!!

I got about $10,000 from NYU. $7,000 in scholarship and $3,000 in work study. My GPA was around a 3.6, I worked in a few research labs, co-authored a published research article, worked a job, and finished my bachelors in 3 years. Hope that helps some!

I got a phone call today from USC. They are awarding me a Dean's Leadership scholarship for $25,000 for 2 years. So $50,000, I am so thankful!

Now that tuition is seemingly do able with modest loans, I am getting super excited.

Hi what are your stats?

gpa, volunteer/ work experience?

Thanks guys - I have a 3.4 GPA, not OUTSTANDING but from a top 10 school, had a double major. Maybe the school ranking stuff doesn't matter to them though? I'm a "career changer" - worked in advertising for three years, and have a handful of volunteer experiences (in a hospital oncology unit, mentoring young girls, tutoring at risk students) from college and a bit after. I don't have direct work (paid) experience in social work really so I guess that must be why. I'm three years out of undergrad. And no scholarship! Well - 3000 work study but no kind of grant. I'm bummed! We'll see if my petition does anything...Maybe all of the other applicants are just really freaking awesome!

Awesomesauce- I'm out of undergrad for 3years as well. I don't think I am a better applicant than you. Did you call and asked why you haven't received scholarship?
