jellyfish1 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I think so! I hope so. I just want to know.
NoSleepTilBreuckelen Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Me to! Here's hoping we all hear something good this week
dtpowis Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Of my schools, we should be hearing from Brown this week. I'm on the edge of my seat! daykid 1
colorless Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Upenn did interviews last week last year so maybe we will hear something this week at least interviews etc. Cornell sent some acceptances around this time too last year so I am very hopeful. January seemed so long this year.
daykid Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Oh man this day has been eteeeeeernal. I kept thinking I was gonna hear something.
daykid Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 So, cause I'm crazy, I logged into the Brown app site and there has been an update. It says my application completed date is today. It also says my GRE scores were received today. Weird...what do we think it means?
dtpowis Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 My Brown app hasn't changed, so I hope it doesn't mean anything. :/
daykid Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Its probably just some administrative tinkering... Maybe my GREs really just got input and i never noticed.
eriatarka Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Oh man this day has been eteeeeeernal. I kept thinking I was gonna hear something. This MONTH has been eternal! I always complain about how fast time flies, yet right now it seems January will never end.
pears Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Not to make any of y'all any more frustrated with being stuck in waiting purgatory, but last year, I noticed that the small changes in my applications, such as status updates for submitted materials, appeared shortly before decisions were made. However, that wasn't the case for all of them, and I received 1 rejection, so I can't really speak to whether there are any patterns. Fingers crossed for everyone!
ecologaia Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hey all, So I heard great news from a Chapel Hill POI today. Again, for others waiting on UNC, this wasn't "the letter" it was a prof letting me know about my admission. I am so excited! Lots of good research overlaps there! As for Harvard: No joke, I took Canis' advice (i think? or someone's here) and emailed the grad secretary with a 'fixed version' of the SOP. She was lovely, so understanding, said she would send it in there to replace. So nice, right? So I fix it, make sure it sounds great. And then, I re-sent her the f***ed up version. Sigh.
NoSleepTilBreuckelen Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Congrats ecologaia!! Enjoy it (and don't sweat the CV mix-up!) Edited January 28, 2014 by NoSleepTilBreuckelen
letmein14 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Anyone out there waiting on Harvard, Yale, or BU? Any word?
jellyfish1 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 i was told by the director of grad admissions at BU (for archaeology) that they will be notifying around the end of February. So still a month of waiting left. That was archaeology though, not anthro. At BU those two depts are completely seperate. Hope that helps!
Forsaken in LA Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I heard PoI's from University of Chicago will know by the 3rd of Feb. For cultural anthro anyhow.
gradcat Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 That's amazing news ecologaia! But my money might be on you ending up at UVA, it's the only thing that could explain your mishaps.
ecologaia Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Thanks, everyone! Gradcat- I hope you're right... Ok... I just realized after reading a few other posts that I don't actually know what POI means. I thought it was "professor of interest" or "person of interest", aka a prof at a school. Now I have no idea.
emmaatquoins Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I always thought POI was professor of interest too? I hope Brown does something this week. I'm getting tired of bar work and I'd like to know it's not forever!
NOWAYNOHOW Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm starting to feel like all the other disciplines are being notified first! Sociology! Classics! History! COME ON
colorless Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Yes I was telling everyone to calm down but I am getting nervous here now. Nothing nothing so far.
emmaatquoins Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I saw an Art History at FSU on the results page that made me sit up, but my application to FSU is for Classical Archaeology, and they don't seem be doing much yet. But it's kind of the same rough area... right??
Quirky Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm getting really, really nervous. I hope to hear from UoT soon
anthropologygeek Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 POI means the person you wish to work with.
Jump Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Everyone seemed to think this week would be a big week as far as results right? I thought so too and because of this the last two days have been unbearably long. Anyone else feeling this way? HrdyWordy 1
colorless Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 This January is not ending. Longest January.
