I can see that course of action being completely appropriate regardless of what news you receive. Good idea Heimat Historian's sister, I think that bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 is finally gonna make its way home!

herstorian728 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) I didn't think about the expensive alcohol drink to open up - but I was in TX over Christmas and my boyfriend's family has been stock holding a case (we bought it a few years and left it) of Dublin Dr. Pepper. now that is worth gold since they no longer make it ! (saw it on sale down here in So Cal 2 years ago for a $75 for a 6-pack) its made with imperial sugar cane - it is so good but snapple co sued the small bottling company so can no longer bottle it (bottled it since 1891) ANY WAY - I have two chilling in the freezer and since it might be the last two ever drink EVER - we are popping them open when I receive an acceptance and if April 15 comes and I hear none, I am popping it open to spare from depression ;-) (I think I might also get my favorite bottle of wine or craft beer) *cheers* Edited February 2, 2015 by herstorian728
ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I am borderline devastated I'm out of upvotes haha I don't think one ever needs an occasion to buy craft beer and wine I'm going to bed super early so I stop refreshing my email and gradcafe for a few hours. Hope you all wake up with good news in your inboxes! Heimat Historian, Magellan1521, Josh J. and 1 other 4
Heimat Historian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Good news! While no longer called Dublin Dr. Pepper, Snapple still distributes a sugar cane sweetened version in central Texas, just hard to find. That stuff is really good. herstorian728 and cscruggs78 2

Because we looked a lot around (central texas) a few weeks ago couldnt find any- every little store almost lol - I love dublin dr pep (we went to the bottle company a few years back - before the legal dispute- it was real cool) What is the new name called?
Heimat Historian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 It's called dr. Pepper with imperial sugar. Looks like you can buy it in Ft. worth area. Amazon also seems to carry it. Good luck!

AWESOME :-) I know the recipe will probably be a little different (according to Dublin - they had a "Special recipe") but I will have to check it out!! THANKS !!
IvanBezdomnii Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'm slightly divided. I am all for the popping bottles, but I have a conference in Lexington in March, so I'm currently saving my bourbon bucks for that. My current plan is all you can eat sushi if and when I receive my first acceptance. Well good luck to all when the anxiety train starts rolling again tomorrow. I've been enjoying not checking my e-mail every five minutes the past two days.
ellebe Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Oh man you guys, feels like I missed the party on here this weekend! I came down with some sort of flu on Friday and ended up in a feverish loop of checking the survey results and then each application status until my partner in crime confiscated all wifi-enabled devices. So cruel. He did make me loads of tea, though. So what's the deal with the snow over there? Are we expecting some closures today? Things are looking pretty dicey back home, but that's Canada, so most uni campuses are probably open regardless. Personally, I'd like to think the "delay" in acceptances compared to last year is down to our collective awesomeness. Too many awesome applicants to choose from! Fingers crossed for some good news today...
