Netflix binging

Not sure if this post is a cry for help... or maybe because I just graduated and have a whole semester off to overindulge...or if i need reprieve from waiting for information on Au.D funding... I have been watching different series from start to finish on Netflix, and I need suggestions on what series to undertake next.

 

What do you watch?

 

Right now I am in the middle Revenge (can we say OMG?) and might start House of Cards tomorrow.

And I have completed: OrangeITNB, Weeds, Dexter, HIMYM, Scandal, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Walking Dead, PLL, Greys Anatomy, Law and Order and every TLC show

House of Cards is great! I also recommend 30 Rock and Parks and Rec.

I enjoy Archer (I don't usually go for those adult cartoon shows but this one actually has me laughing out loud sometimes) and started a show called The Returned (Les Revenants) last night. It's more of a thriller... SUPER creepy. I had to stop watching it last night and put on something funny just so I could fall asleep. It's incredible though. French with subtitles, if you're OK with that.

 

And it that's totally not your style... maybe Arrested Development?

I watch waaaay too much TV. But recent Netflix binges include: Bones, Law & Order (I prefer the original), Chuck, House of Cards, and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. My boyfriend can never remember the name of the last one, so we just call it Old Sheila Solves Obvious Murders. It's so campy, it's hard not to enjoy it.

 

And for DVDs, I plan to be buried with my Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, and Sex and the City box sets.

Personally I'm binge-watching Queer as Folk right now. Also in the middle of West Wing and a Gossip Girl rewatch.

I also love Bob's Burgers and South Park.

Netflix Instant also has some great shows that are generally underrated, or are foreign. I recommend The Fall, The Returned, Top of the Lake, Comedy Bang Bang, Luther, and Little Britain.

 

The Story of Film: An Odyssey is a great documentary series that goes through the history of film, but focuses on international film and generally underrated film movements (it's a little like Howard Zinn's People's History, but with film). Sherlock is also interesting.

Many rave about "Six Feet Under." I tried it for a time and was into it (signed up for Netflix expressly to get the DVDs; summers in residence at my uni are boring), up until Season 4 when a switch flipped for me and I lost interest in the characters utterly and completely. I hear the finale is good, though.

I love love love Six Feet Under. And the finale is definitely one of the best I've seen.

Simple-ish really: I moved outside the USA to a place where I didn't have fast enough internet for or access to Netflix, so that broke the addiction. Then, when I came back, I realized I could get most of what I wanted via the local public library system (and, even better, could check out a whole season of a TV show at once and get to watch the extras!). I have cable with DVR and a Hulu Plus subscription, so I guess that's sorta like having Netflix even though I don't.

and I have seen a ridiculous amount of the documentaries on Netflix, especially the ones in the Social and Cultural section. Probaly nearing the 80% mark! haha

Definitely watch House of Cards-- and if you like it, the original British series is on there, too. The first seasons are similar but not the same, and the second seasons are fairly different, so it's actually pretty interesting.

 

I finished the entire first season of American Horror Story in a week when I had bronchitis last year. Also, there are several seasons of Burn Notice on Netflix which is one of my favorites.

 

It's not very long, but Jericho is on there. People kept recommending Walking Dead to me since I'm still mad Jericho ended, so even though I haven't watched it yet I assume the recommendation goes the other day too.

 

Buffy is on there and I think Dollhouse is, too.

Watched the first 2 episodes of the House of Cards last night and it hasn't wowed me yet... I'm guessing it must pick up it everyone is recommending it.

Ohh! Forgot to add Angel. I am so annoyed by Buffy Summers that I can't get behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Angel is fantastic.

 

Also, I'm really surprised at how good White Collar is. It's filmed around where I used to work. They were always closing off 54th street near Park and Madison to film, and I just know I have to be in the background somewhere!

Get past episode 4, then it really picks up. Trust me, It's worth it

I would definitely reccommend Parks and Rec if you want to watch something funny. Freaks and Geeks is an amazing show and it's only one season so it's easy to watch it in its entirety!

Anybody have any recommendations for netflix Canada?

 

Dexter is my all time favourite show - in fact I've watched just about everything by Showtime (the L word, the big C, etcetera). Also Dollhouse, OISTNB, The Killing, Cracked, Dead Like Me, The IT Crowd, Firefly, The Guild ... and the list goes on.

 

And if anyone is looking for an interesting documentary, I highly recommend Generation Rx - just be prepared for them to be a tad biased.

I agree, House of Cards picks up after a few episodes. I didn't like it at first, but then… wow.

 

If you like things strange, creepy, and confusing: "Twin Peaks" is my favorite series and it's available to stream.
