hooraypublic Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I'm sure I'll be rejected based on the interview but thank you! To expound, all of us in our 2-hour window were brought in at the same time and it was instantly very social, much like the program is described. You're thrown in together to socialize and meet everyone all at once just prior to interviewing. Kind of like church before or after the service. Everyone was smiling and very friendly, so it was pretty cool and scary at the same time. The interview was quite cold and daunting, however. Otherwise, a very sexy friendly art cult. Many interviewees were also accepted to Yale, Columbia & UCLA. Sounds fun! Thanks for sharing. Seems like you're already doing great. Best of luck!
Czarina Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 OH MY GOD.... This is freaking me out. How come I got an email this morning telling me that decisions would be posted on Friday, while it is only Tuesday?? Probably a nope. Interviews were a couple of weeks ago and informal acceptances sent out a few days ago
yestoyeahhhh Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Hey guys that are Interviewing for Hunter, What are your check in times? it seems like there are some who are interviewing early in the afternoon and some who are interviewing later. I thought they met with all of the interviewees as a group first. HEY Tem33056 no i think we have our own individual interview

wzhao Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Interviews were a couple of weeks ago and informal acceptances sent out a few days ago Yes I am sure. Oh well rejection it is!
onbeingblue Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Yes I am sure. Oh well rejection it is! hey wzhao, out of curiosity, what did SAIC offer you exactly? why did they offer you acceptance to their undergraduate program? sorry if you posted already, I don't remember seeing anything about that kind of offer in the forum.
flawed Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 hey wzhao, out of curiosity, what did SAIC offer you exactly? why did they offer you acceptance to their undergraduate program? sorry if you posted already, I don't remember seeing anything about that kind of offer in the forum. Hey onbeingblue, I got the same offer from SAIC. I think the prior degree program is recommended to those coming from a non-arts background. It's similar to a transfer student, and you can earn a BFA in 2 years or so. I've decided to pass.
fluffyqin Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Congratulations to all those who were admitted! Out of curiosity, is anyone else a non-art school grad (undergraduate) with a non-art related degree? I was psychology major and get admitted into the MFA design program at CCA
flawed Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 A few days ago, I got an e-mail from RIT informing me that I've been waitlisted. And then I received the exact same e-mail today but addressed to a different person. I have a feeling it's a looong list.

Hello onbeingblue, like flawed mentioned, the school offered us admission to BFA, and allow us to graduate earlier depending on credits we have earned from undergrad. I decided to pass as well, just because I am reluctant to get another Bachelor's degree.
chiboi2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Has anyone that interviewed with Columbia New Genres heard back yet? Was just about to ask... Nothing yet here. When did you interview?
dryheat Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 That's awesome congrats!! I had an interview with them...maybe they decided they didn't like anyone they have talked to already lol. They are making a ton of changes so be wary...no more full funding and basically every person who I listed that I want to work with will be leaving by next term (but are still friggin listed as faculty on their website smh) if it makes you feel any better, I got an email yesterday to set up a phone conversation. I responded with my availability but never got a response. sent another email this morning in case my email from yesterday was missed...no response. called and left a voicemail for the person who initially emailed me...no response. now I really have no idea what to make of the situation?
onbeingblue Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I emailed USC and was told all decisions would be sent out "mid-march so very soon", just FYI to everyone.
lgrcwest Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 How much debt are you guys okay with accumulating for your art degree? Louisiana state university offered me a free ride plus stipend and they said they need an answer this week. I visited and I didn't like it at all. But it's freeee. And the other schools that I got into are pretty expensive. I'm scared I'm going to look back on this and kick myself for not accepting lsu's offer. What do I do?!?! What are you guys doing?!?!

If you didn't like the program and the others are too expensive, maybe wait a year and reapply to schools with good funding? Thats what I would do. I don't think you should go to a school just because its free if you don't like the program.

I personally met someone who was in that program and transferred out. She hated it that much she started her MFA all over again. Wait a year and apply again, and hold out for a program you like. It's not worth going into debt, and it's not worth being miserable at an institution you don't care for. thepictureisstill 1

The same happened with me after my initial interview request. I responded with times that I was available to talk and had no response til almost a week later when one of the faculty emailed me asking if I was free at a time that wasn't even close to what my availability was. Frankly, with how much is changing over there, I'm surprised and also pretty pissed that they are even accepting applications this year. Now I'm out $100 for a school that advertised all of this stuff that they had and now it's all being taken away. Dammit. NYTreader and hunger_artist 1 1
Marchy Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Hi Marchy, Did Bard really send start sending out acceptances this week? Do you know what department emailed her? Hi- Yes, a friend interviewing with Film/Video received her informal acceptance email the following day. Not sure about the other departments.

This happened to me as well. I emailed them with a time range that was good for me, and had no confirmation. I missed a call when I was on my way home, believing they wouldn't call. Then I called them back. The first time it went to voice mail and I hung up, then I tried again and they actually answered as I was leaving a message. The "interview" took place at that moment (7 pm LA time) The same happened with me after my initial interview request. I responded with times that I was available to talk and had no response til almost a week later when one of the faculty emailed me asking if I was free at a time that wasn't even close to what my availability was. I mean, done by the vice dean herself and in such a rush, asking more questions about the changes than about your work. Very odd. I imagine this change must have come as a surprise for them too, and thus all these improvised sudden requests. But I can't complain since I wasn't expecting the chance to go anymore. I am still motivated by the program, but it will end up depending on the funding they offer.
emmitt003 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 University of oregon rejection via postal service today

Don't go if you don't like it! You should feel like you deserve better than to go to a school that you don't like. But, use that offer to get more money for other schools you like more! Say, I would love to go to your school, but I got this offer from Louisiana state University which is really attractive from a financial viewpoint, can you match this offer or give me more money? Or something like that but better haha.... That's what I said to a school. You can do research online about how to approach a school for more money. elinik and thepictureisstill 2

I have to agree with you--I'm getting a weird feeling about the program as well. In addition to the changes willenium mentioned earlier, I also found out that the grad coordinator who I met with last fall (and who had a lot to do with me actually deciding to apply) has also left the program. I feel like going through the program while they are in the middle of such major restructuring and rebuilding might end up just being a super frustrating experience all around. definitely not my top choice anymore. I sense there must have been a very serious conflict within the program... maybe it's too much imagination, but all these people leaving the mfa could be a result of a discussion? Do you still have the contact info of the grad coordinator who left? I agree, if this is the case we could end up being artsy guinea pigs.
