Congrats to everyone accepted so far! I've finally been officially rejected by Ohio State, and I also think I've been rejected by Wisconsin and Colorado. Let's hope one of the other 7 schools accept, otherwise I'll be looking for an MA program with a late application (Do those exist?)

I wish you the best of luck with the other 7 programs - I'm sure you'll find your way somewhere. I know Syracuse has a March 1 deadline and Columbia's MA in political science has an April 2 deadline. Columbia's QMSS program has a February 17 deadline.

NYU seems set to follow standard early February release date. Spoke to my potential supervisor ( not on committee) today who told me the committee was meeting yesterday and on Tuesday.

There should be some, although almost none of them is purely Poli Sci. Check the deadlines of GPS (UCSD), Jaskson (Yale), CIR (Chicago), MAPSS (Chicago), QMSS (Columbia), etc. Also, if you are doing comparative, there are tons of area study Masters in the country as well.

Going to get a Master degree after getting rejected by all of your applied Ph.D. programs is definitely not ideal (so let's hope that it does not happen). But there are also plenty option left without leaving the US.

Claremont graduate university has its PhD deadline set at February 1st.

University of Houston listed its deadline as February 15th. http://www.uh.edu/class/political-science/graduate/faq/

Sorry, I'll claim the UNC admit decisions should be posted online now

Really? Mine has not been.

Piggybacking off the late deadline conversation: There are a lot of terminal master's programs out there with later deadlines, at institutions that don't offer a PhD. Some do offer funding. As someone who spent several years between undergraduate studies and graduate school (where I entered such a program), there are various benefits and drawbacks to such a plan, dependent on the situation. For me, I was far removed from recommenders at my undergraduate institution, I wasn't completely confident graduate school was the correct direction, and my undergraduate record suffered from a low GPA and lack of methods training/research experience.

In a different situation, schuaust — if you had ongoing research that you could continue work on, for instance — it might make greater sense to focus on that and to concentrate on building up the best application for next season.

But it's too early! You've got plenty of applications still pending.

Anybody heard anything from Penn State or Minnesota? I see that they usually release results early February or End January. Do they conduct interviews or chat with selected candidates?

That feeling when you see you have a new email, get excited, and then it turns out it's just a spammy newsletter.

I got this e-mail from UPenn recently that made my heart leap and then fall:

"Every admitted candidate to the Annenberg School for Communication is invited to attend our Prospective Student's Day March 18 as a guest of the school.   [...]
We hope to be in touch mid to late February with admissions decisions, but wanted you to save the date for now if you can so if you are admitted you do not have last minute notice

Thank you for your time
."

I wonder if the Berkeley tech staff noticed an abnormal surge in political science applicant logins last night

They probably do not care, lol.

Who are the other Penn State admits? I can happily claim one of those admissions.

Should we be worried if we didn't get an email?

I don't think you have cause to worry - the formal decisions were not sent. These were informal emails that were sent today.
