Schwarzwald Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Got admitted to Toledo. I'm feeling the love from these smaller schools.

I wrote to them a week ago but haven't received a reply so I'm wondering if I should just presume rejection at this point. I solicited. It took a few days for them to get back to me, though, so it might be worth it to hang in there a little longer.

If the other schools you're waiting to hear from don't work out, do you think you'll accept? I'm leaning towards SUNY Binghamton since they focus on what I do, but I'm still undecided (and still have to hear back from Central European University)...plus I'm tired of tons of snow and cold, so a milder climate would be nice.

The two that I'm really primarily waiting to hear from at this point are Penn and Indiana HPS. If either or both were to admit me there's a good chance I'd turn down Utah, although I can't be certain. Penn, Indiana HPS, Cincinnati, and Utah are all really good fits for the stuff that I do and all four have people I'd really love to work with. Utah and Cincinnati are basically a draw at this point, and then with Penn and Indy it's basically just a question of whether I let "prestige" count in some significant way in their favor. I wish I could say something more concrete than that. Things are still pretty up in the air for me. I'm probably going to go visit Utah at the end of the month, so hopefully that will give me some useful info. I hope you get admitted regardless of whatever decision I make, though! Utah has some pretty cool people.

Adequate Philosopher Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I've been accepted into Virginia Tech (no funding). It is nice to receive some positive feedback, considering that pretty much everywhere else rejected me. frege-bombs and philosophe 2
Schwarzwald Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 In at BU and LMU. Probably going to visit BU to see if I can fall in love enough to pay. LMU is high on my list. philosophe 1

thing.in.itself Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Hey all, Just wondering about other folks who got accepted/waitlisted at UC Riverside. I received an email stating that I was waitlisted, and then after emailing back the person who emailed me, did not hear anything. Specifically, my questions pertained to whether or not waitlisted students would be invited to visit and if there is any chance of funding. Does anyone have any information about the offers and why the person who emailed might not be responding? Thanks!

I also sent an email to the person who contacted me, but did not hear anything (it's been some time now). I think it's also the case that some people have tried soliciting their status but not received emails back. I don't know anything about why we haven't received responses, though.

I'm quite surprised to be honest as the initial email had no indication of position/likelihood and there were other posters who were told they were high on the waitlist. But I think "quite surprised" has been my general disposition throughout this entire process!
