spectastic Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 reading sucks. I wish there's a way I can download knowledge into my brain. Think about it, if people could do that, humanity would make more advancements in a couple of generations than all of human history. also, immortality would be nice, the one that wolverine has. I don't really care about the claws, just don't let me die.
Danger_Zone Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I'd say super memory, because I love to read but my memory kind of sucks so I have to study a lot before I know things well enough. My boyfriend's "studying" consists of skimming through notes briefly before tests and he does better on them than I do! Eternal Sunshine-esque memory would be good too for unpleasant or useless memories you'd like to forget. Super speed and flying would be a cool combo too. You could be your own private jet!
reddog Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Just give me Phoenix's powers, telepathy and telekinesis. That would be really awesome, I could use it for not having to pay for study books, or for always being able to catch the bus. Also, I would finally know what my dog is thinking all the time!
drivingthoughts Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Not really a super-power, but I would love to get my hands on Hermione's time turner. That would make work-life balance so much easier...

I'd want the same. There's actually a real condition for this. It's called Hyperthymesia. It's almost what people think an eidetic memory is. You can find a few interviews with people who have it. It's pretty creepy. They can recall exactly what happened 20 years ago, in precise detail. Although it's not all giggles. Some things in one's life are probably better forgotten.

My family joke that I have an eidetic memory. I don't (although I'd love one). I am lucky that I remember the picture of how I've read stuff, so I can visualise the page where I read it. It's just a case of associating the content with key features on the page and I'll remember it for a decent amount of time. This does lead to random associations though!! For superpowers, I always wanted the ability to read people's minds but having seen various interpretations of this in popular culture over the years I'm less attracted to it. I reckon teleportation would be my pick. Immediate transportation to new places. Yeah that sounds awesome!
spectastic Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 I think the super memory would be nicely complemented by a better processor. I believe that hyperthymesia is a condition typically associated with savants. There's also a theory out there that suggests that the reason why we forget stuff is because our mind is disposing of unimportant info to make room for the important stuff. So it's like clearing the cache to make life a little easier.. so to speak. But I'm no brain surgeon
MarineBluePsy Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Teleportation! I'm sick of transportation hassles and just want to beam myself wherever I want to be at the right time. TakeruK 1

I pondered this as I was a huge fan of Out of This World, but then I wondered if it would really work the way we think it would or would be like dvr freezing where everything else is really happening but you don't see it. Need Coffee in an IV Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I'm also team teleportation! It has the benefits of flying without the hassle of worrying about weather, birds, planes, etc. I would like the way night crawler teleports, where he travels between these weird universe holes. Plus you can go anywhere! I would enjoy being invisible too. That way you can really decompress and escape the outside world.
Usmivka Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I'd like to the ability to stop myself from procrastinating. Solio 1

maelia8 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I'm definitely on the teleportation team! Of course, I'd only use it for travel outside of town, where I'd otherwise have to use a car or bus or plane or train, because I despise all of the time wasted traveling, especially when I'm the driver and can't even read. And if I could teleport, not only could I visit my family whenever I want, for as long as I want, but I could live anywhere and still get to campus on time for class I could go out to lunch with my partner, which would normally necessity 3 hours including transport time, and be back in no time at all! I'd really like this power the best.
Guest Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) I knoooow. I'm trying my best to get faster at reading before my graduate program restarts... Edited June 22, 2016 by Guest
maelia8 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 @telkanuru permanently or temporarily? Would they disappear to another place, or would they cease to exist for the time period that they were disappeared?
spectastic Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 can you make trump and hillary disappear? permanently would be grand
dr. t Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 You wouldn't really want what would take their place, though.
spectastic Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 then make all of them disappear, except for bernie, and other sensible politicians who are more concerned about this country's future than their private interests.
Lisa_McCoy Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Reading minds would be a great super power...I feel like I am surrounded by too many fake "friends"
