Wow! Congrats to all OSU folks. But I'm curious @correlatesoftheory, did you get the phone call in the evening? Wild! Working late hours up in Columbus...

I called them actually asking about funding business, and was told right then.

So that was nice.

YES! Great! Congrats.

For the Northwestern posters, has your application page also changed, or is it still "submitted"?

Harvard ones look like trolls.

Yup, Harvard posts look like trolls.

Does anyone have any news from Berkeley? I was (unofficially) told that we would probably hear back during a one-week window starting today.

Also, congrats to everyone who's been admitted / wait-listed so far, and best of luck to all :)

Congrats to all admissions. Does anyone know whether PennState will update the online profile once a decision has been made? They wrote that they would send out letters but given that I am an international student that may take more time than I am willing to wait.

Harvard trolls?

This is an honest question coming from someone who has not been on this message board for a long time... are there actual people who bother to update the results pages but choose not to participate (even in a really small way) or even mention their status in their field's forum? It just seems odd to me that you would be willing to commit the time for one but not the other... and another piece of evidence of troll-dom... (Also, it seems the Harvard results were removed)

There certainly are. I, for one, posted in the results pages but not in the forums when applying for my masters.

With that being said, I do agree that whether someone "claims" a results-page post on here is perhaps the best litmus test for authenticity.

Edit: Also, who curates the results pages, and how do they know whether results are legitimate or not? Just curious...

I think there are people who would update the results page, but not come on here and vice versa (coming here but not update the results page). Even though you and I find them strange, they do exist.

They were removed because I marked them as spam. Sometimes the moderators remove things and sometimes they don't.

Ah, that kind of answers my question from up there ^^

Trolling is worse this year. But only takes one troll to do that, so maybe not much worse.

Based on the timeline of last year's notifications on the results page, I'm not sure they are trolls. I do think that @RevTheory1126 could be correct in that some people may just lurk the forums and post in the results.

EDIT: I derped. They're trolls. I still think there's something to people lurking and posting results, though.

idk. When I searched the results page, notifications came end of February/beginning of March.

Fair enough. I believe it, but it just feels like a very isolating way to use this place. I personally enjoy the camaraderie, but to each their own.

I can confirm that the Harvard posts are trolls.

Derp. I actually just read the dates wrong. Sorry, folks! You're right, and I'm wrong. My brain was looking at the day of the month and not the actual month.

/I think I am also just wishing it was mid-February so more results would be out.

Yeah, mid-February cannot get here soon enough, so I can stop fixating on Northwestern and my empty inbox!!

I understand the amount of people who post at the results page is quite limited but, in some cases (i.e. UCR), it seems only a few individuals were contacted by the universities at a very early date (when compared to previous years) while others received no information. Is there any reasonable explanation for that?

Other than trolls, of course, though I believe it is not the case.

Just a quick update for everyone: my status on the OSU portal went from 'Pending' to 'Decision' this morning, with a congratulatory message inside. Don't know if it changed for anyone else.

Congrats!

But you didn't get an email that your status changed?

Nope. As of 8:30 PST no email indicating I was accepted. Just going off what I see on the OSU portal right now.
