I'm sorry to hear that :( I know how that feels. I was speaking from my own experience as I had only received emails on weds/fri but youre right, who knows. hopefully you have some other schools lined up? i applied to 8 and have heard back from 3. two of which were rejections.

Thanks! Sorry for the negativity, it's just a bit discouraging. I applied to 11 schools - so far 4 rejections, 1 acceptance, and still waiting to hear from 6. Congrats on your acceptance as well! I guess at this point we should be thankful that we both have at least 1 acceptance :)

Am I the only one that's going stir crazy?! I have yet to hear back from a majority of my schools, including my top choices. I just can't anymore. Hubby says I just have a strong case of impostor syndrome

SAME.

Is it just me, or does it seem like it's taking much longer to hear this year than in previous years? Maybe someone has already mentioned this. I thought for certain I'd know by March at the LATEST where I'd be going.

It's so much more pressure when you're trying to arrange new childcare, schools for kids, finding a good neighborhood... ugh. All within only a few months. I'm having a crisis over here!

I'm in the same situation! I've got a two year old!

Hi Larky - do you mind sharing where you got this information from? I called the Health Behavior & Society Department yesterday and spoke directly with the Academic Program Admin and she said that they "hope" to get out notifications this week or next.

That's when I got my letter, and a preceding call from my assigned advisor. I know a few others who did as well. Maybe they'll do another wave and that's what she meant? Or firm up the waitlist as folks turn them down?

I keep telling myself that if I can't handle this right now, how on earth am i going to handle actually doing the teaching and the writing and the researching at the same time.  So in a weird way, it helps put this in perspective :D

I was accepted a few weeks ago, and I got an email notifying me that there was a change on the application website (https://applynow.unc.edu/apply/status).  I think APK1942 is saying that he or she randomly checked that site and realized the status had changed before getting an email about it.

Best of luck!!!  My top choice was Harvard PHS but I just got rejected (assumed because no acceptance or waitlist on Wednesday), and now UNC is looking like a great option :)

Sorry to hear that!  Yeah, I'm still bummed but glad I have other options. Do you think UNC epi is a good choice?  I know it and Harvard are ranked similarly but I guess I'm concerned that the UNC name isn't as widely known so there won't be as many opportunities afterwards. Thoughts?

I think it boils down to a question of general reputation versus reputation within the field of public health/medicine. In terms of the latter and training, especially in methods, I think opportunities and rigor are about even at both schools. I work with a few people who are recent UNC grads or are currently in the program, and from what I get, UNC and Harvard (along with Hopkins) are very well represented at research conferences and such. I guess the area where Harvard holds an advantage is interdisciplinary research (health policy etc.) or if someone is intending a career of consulting/ private research work etc. That's my 2 cents and I'd be curious to hear your take on this also!

Yeah, I've heard the same, about those three being the top schools in terms of opportunities, methods, established presence in the field, etc.  Each obviously has its own advantages, but I have heard great things about both Harvard and UNC.  I think you're right that it is really well known within the field of public health, which is really what counts from our perspective.  Another big factor to me is location - I'm currently at Hopkins, and I was excited about the prospect of moving to Boston (but not so much Chapel Hill!).  I think my decision will boil down to two major things:  fit with advisor (and their advising method), and funding situation.  I'd love to stay at Hopkins but the funding package isn't as competitive as I was hoping, so the best choice might be UNC just because of that.

Has anyone else heard back from UNC epi or seen anything on the portal? I keep checking but don't see anything...

I am pretty late to this thread, but...

1.  To all those accepted into Harvard's PHS program, congratulations! It seems like it was especially competitive this year.

2.  To fellow members of the HSPH PHS waitlist, does anyone know if the only way to be offered a slot is for someone who was accepted to our specific track to decline their offer? For example, I was waitlisted for the program after applying for the Public Health Nutrition (PHN) track and was told during my interviews that the Nutrition department only gets 5 students (of the 40 total) and only 2 of these are PHN (versus Nutrition Epi). So, am I waiting for 1/2 spots? Or, 1/40?

I plan to contact admissions after I get my letter in the mail, but thought I would try the hive mind first.

Best of luck, everyone!

I believe you are waiting for 1 of the 2 PHN spots.

Anyone want to claim the Harvard HPM phone acceptance on the results page?  Specifically which track. Thanks!

Just called Columbia about Sociomedical, and they said decisions would come out next week "sometime."

And here I was checking the results section every second! I don't think we are going to hear back until like 2 weeks later because they said "next week" LOL It is NEVER "next week"  I know I don`t stand a chance but this is my first choice! Which stream?
