Yeah, I did call them to make sure everything was there, as one of my recommenders had issues, so I know it is fine. However, this just recently happened. I don't know. At this point, I am not too concerned about GWU.

Does anyone know how GWU works with regards to funding? I'm accepted to the PhD program, but they "were not able to give [me] funding at this time, but if it becomes available, will be considered." Does anyone know if that means tuition is covered and I have to come up with living, or whether you have to pay their astronomical tuition in addition to living?

Tuition is not covered and you will have to pay.

Georgetown and GWU are both infamous for doing so. Because many applicants are current USG employees their respective agencies will often pay tuition on their behalf. For the rest of us, it just plain sux!

BTW, are you planing on attending the new admit day at UCSB?

I had a few acceptances to safety MA programs, but they're the one PhD that came through with an acceptance. Anyone?

I'm not, but I go to a school in the Claremont Consortium, so I just wanted to say hi...

That said, Claremont is the town of "trees and Ph.D.s". Far from downtown LA, and without a whole lot of character, in my opinion. I've also heard negative things about funding possibilities from friends who attend there, but it's only through the grapevine--you'd know far better than I.

I'd say go for it if you've gotten funding and have an worthwhile advisor.

Hmm... well,now the GWU form says submitted, but no result. Really odd.

Accepted to Kent State with full funding, but will likely decline. If you applied and are waitlisted, I hope that makes you happy!

Time for still another week of admission decisions, as the number of schools still out dwindles to a small handful. Expect, too, for sundry individuals to begin turning down schools. The wait-listers may begin getting some action.

Keller- Just an FYI, wait-listers probably won't hear anything until late during the first full week of April or sometime during the second full week in April...at least if past results are any indication. I know that's the case with Rochester, but of course not sure about UND since I withdrew.

That said, I should let people know that I will be formally turning down Rice in the next few days, so I hope this is encouraging news for anybody wait-listed there who is wanting to go.

Can't attend, I'm halfway across the world unfortunately. It's my hometown, however, so I'll likely be accepting the offer and meeting with them in May. Just waiting for the verdict at a waitlisted school to make my decision. It's a bummer that it's basically coming down to finances.

I'm almost positive I'm going to Claremont in the Fall for an M.A. in Politics (Political Philosophy). Congrats on getting into the PhD program!

Was told that the committee finalized things on Friday. All decisions will be mailed. Seems as though "all decisions" will simply be rejections, however.

I saw my beautiful letter on the website.

Our Admissions Committee has undertaken a careful review of your application and supporting documents. The Committee determined that it cannot recommend acceptance, and consequently I must inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the graduate program in Political Science. I know this will come as unwelcome news. Please be assured that we receive many more applications than we can possibly accept. Many strong candidates have to be denied admission.

Yeah, just checked my GWU account and got the same rejection letter--was expecting it after people had heard back on the 15th about acceptances.

Still haven't gotten a formal email about it, nor a single rejection in the mail.

your status says "CCAS4-A decision on your application has been made. " then you scroll down and find the link for the letter. Well, they already announced all the acceptances last week, so I wasn't surprised to find the letter either.

FYI to anyone wait-listed at UT-Austin. I just formally withdrew the offer that I had there. Hope this helps someone out there .

"We are concluding our work this week and the Admissions Office should be sending out letters very soon."

So it sounds like next week. At least I'm hoping that is what it sounds like.
