curiousgeorge84 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I know some Columbia waitlists went up on the results page, but has anyone actually claimed them here? I haven't heard anything from Columbia. I'm hoping for either a waitlist or an MA referral. Once the waitlist goes out, doesn't that mean that the acceptances are finished? How can people be on a waitlist if they are still deciding who to accept?
M.Y Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Columbia sent out a lot of late rejections last year, and I saw many applicants complaining, so I guess people are just procrastinating over there. Anyway, I don't hold out hope for Columbia.

APGradApplicant Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Yeah, I can't stand the way some schools just let the rejected students sit around. If it weren't for gradcafe forum, I'd be uber-pissed off! As regulars on here have observed, I'm pretty pushy about rejections anyhow. 3/4 of mine have been the result of my e-mailing the dept after waiting at least a week after the first round of admits have come out. In each case, I confirmed my suspicion (UCSD was the only one so far that had the courtesy to take care of the rejects same day as every1 else). And as far as I can see, UNC-CH is still playing that game with people who've been waiting patiently a month now. (Throws hands up in the air...) It'sgonnabeme and Cicero 2

Yes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Got my fingers crossed for Oxon who I know really wanted it. Thank you, that's really sweet of you. Unfortunately I didn't get an email last night, so I guess that means I'm out. I am upset, but I'll survive. My sincere congratulations to everyone who made it though! I'm sure you have a great time ahead of you. I wish I would have been part of it too, but at least now I can start evaluating the choices I have (which aren't too bad either) and get on with my life. I hope to see you at some of the (other) admit events.. Yes 1
Cantabrigian Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 congrats harvard people!!!! Any bets on when ND committee might be meeting?
Yes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm sorry Oxon!! I didn't get the email either, so I guess we're both out. Don't worry about it; you have some amazing offers. I know, I know. I really am in no position to complain, and I'm not. I have been incredibly lucky so far, but I can't help feeling upset. No one is happy when they get rejected by their top choice, it's natural.. expensivemarket, ladedodaday, trollin' and 3 others 3 3

Yes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Ziz and Rossiya, I had really started to picture all of us at the admit weekend. Funny how one builds relationships on an anonymous forum, right? I'm so sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you either. It'sgonnabeme, Yes, Concentration and 1 other 2 2
irishfan11 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I know they are somewhere in this thread, but can someone post the research articles about political science rankings. I want to say there were 2 or 3 others outside of the US News and World Report Rankings.

I want to say there were 2 or 3 others outside of the US News and World Report Rankings. What do you mean, you don't feel like reading through 118 pages of intensely emotional posts?! I myself will print out the whole thing and have it bound, so whenever I feel my life has become a little boring I will have a good bedtime read to remind myself of the times it wasnt...

Coldgrad Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Woohoo! Just got waitlisted at Michigan. No real information except that they called it "selective, short" and that they anticipated there would be admits off the list.

Scarlet Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I guess UMass Amherst is going to let the rest of us shlubs wait it out for rejections. Anyone hear anything from Northeastern?

I applied at UMass last year and heard nothing for a long time. I eventually had to e-mail them about my status.

Same with me last year. Were you accepted? I ended up being rejected anyway (last year). Edited February 23, 2010 by Scarlet

Thanks to both of you! I've been looking around for these to help justify my nascent decision ... want to make sure I'm not deciding based solely off personal life but also on actual facts. Now if I would just hear about funding ...

In an act of insanity, or just understanding the meaning of good fit, I just accepted Rutgers without hearing from Columbia and two other schools. My advisor there best matches my research interests, they expressed a commitment to supporting my professional development, and they gave me really good funding. NEPA 1

graduatingsoon Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 MIT will be this week for sure. I hope so. Do you have any info confirming this, or just speculating?
NEPA Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 NEPA, just wondering. Why haven't you accepted Rutgers yet? Have they told you about funding? No, I haven't gotten any funding info yet. Not sure they've accepted everyone yet that they're going to (I expected to maybe see a few more accepts on the Results page) so maybe they're still sorting out funding. Rest assured that once I know that I won't have to live in my car in order to go there, I will definitely accept!
