alizarin Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) Jeremy Morgan...I loved him! He's one of my favorite instructors I worked with there! Everyone loves him, he's awesome He knows a lot of techniques with acrylic and would probably work very well with you. I know you work with gouache (from your website). But they're pretty related (both water soluble). Seriously, he's like the king of acrylic painting! Edited March 13, 2010 by alizarin

monkey_tacos Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Hi, Monkey_tacos, I'm sorry to hear about your email from UCLA. Did you apply to their MFA fine arts? just wanted to make sure we are talking about the same program. Best of luck to you! yes, it was into mfa fine art. not too disappointed. already got into some great schools, wasn't all that excited about cali.
gradster123 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Has anyone heard from PNCA or UCLA yet? If so, was it via email, regular mail or telephone? I am so anxious to hear from these two! Also, for those still waiting on Tyler, I just realized that you can check your status there through the online part of the application. Good to know! The Tyler app doesn't tell you whether you got in or not....or does it? Mine just said it had been completed on a certain date.

He seemed really supportive and I ended up walking away from the interview with a bunch of great ideas for my own work. Did you do your undergrad at SFAI?
crey01 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Has anyone gotten an interview with UCLA? I have been hearing from the forum that some people have been rejected BUT what about anyone with an interview? I haven't heard anything. Also, I still haven't gotten any word from schools on the east coast: Columbia NYU (even though they just sent back my portfolio CD, which I take as a no) SVA HUNTER YALE (swift no back in Feb.) got into CCA and SFAI...I have no idea who to pick if I were to move to SF. anyone have any good concrete ideas on the differences between the programs?
fatima Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 The Tyler app doesn't tell you whether you got in or not....or does it? Mine just said it had been completed on a certain date. On the upper left corner of the screen there's a link that says "message center" which when I clicked on it opened a pop-up window which told me I had been rejected. Maybe this is not true for everyone? Also I emailed Melissa Morgan (frogleg@temple.edu) to ask about my application status before I figured the online thing out, and she emailed me back later that day. You might try her as well!

Spaced Out Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 has anyone heard any thing from CCA since they were admitted through the web advisor. I emailed them and they said packets were being sent out this week, but besides that I haven't heard a thing since I was interviewed. Also, my interview was later in the month then other people on the forum so I'm wondering what that is about. yeah I heard from them today. they said packet should come this week with scholarship info and loan stuff. I doubt the time they contacted you has much significance.

A friend of mine who attended CCA in 2000-2002 and lived in SF for a little bit said that SFAI is in serious financial trouble right now because the head of the school got in trouble for money laundering or something. I dont know anything beyond that, I havent fact checked any of this because I didnt apply there
Spaced Out Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Congrats, Sophia! Curious who interviewed you? SFAI sounds like a really cool program. I would have applied there but I think I missed the deadline or something like that. I am going to visit CCA in early April. I have only heard good things about the campus, that it is really beautiful and cool

He seemed really supportive and I ended up walking away from the interview with a bunch of great ideas for my own work. Did you do your undergrad at SFAI? Yup, I got my BFA there. I was thinking of applying there for the MFA but decided against it. I kind of want a new experience for the MFA.
lightgreen Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Just wanted all SVA photography applicants know that I received a rejection letter yesterday, just as I was inquiring about the interviews. Slightly delayed as I was dealing with a teenage suicide which really made my letter seem like a very small matter.

kgd Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I know nobody has probably applied to any of these schools, but they're my last three so I just thought I'd check. Anyone applying to or heard anything from: PNCA Kendall College of Art (Ferris State University) Northern Illinois University (I actually work at this school in a non-art related department, so I'm just wondering if anyone is applying) I feel like I'm the only person on this forum that has applied to schools outside the top 10.... Don't worry I applied to schools out of the top ten. I got into SMU (Dallas) and when I told people they where like What is that? I also got an acceptance to U of Arizona my rejections so far have come from. Portland State Hunter- no word but no interview also which was arranged last week for everyone else so I'm pretty much counting it as a rejection Notre Dame-rej and that's all I've heard from. I'm still waiting on NYU Brooklyn rutgers VCU Good luck!

sophiab Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I just got an acceptance from Cranbrook Painting too! Super excited and jumping around my house right now. AggroCrag, are you going to go visit? Congratulations to both of you! If you want to know about the area, I grew up there. I went to high school right next to Cranbrook and I used to work in their science museum. Their campus is really beautiful.

intelly Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 intelly: I have not heard anything from NIU. Could we check on the "myniu" website? Most of the schools I applied to were not top ranked. stofo, I actually got an acceptance letter from NIU today! They mailed it to my parents house (I had put them down as my permanent address) If you got to MyNiu, and click "self service" and then under "student admission" click on "accept admission", it should say on that page if you've been accepted. I didn't click accept yet, I'm still waiting on PNCA and Kendall College of Art
