adam_cs Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 4th rejection in a row. It's hard to breathe. anxiousapplicant and EelAwaits 1 1
Medievalmaniac Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm sorry....I hope you get in somewhere, and hang in there!!
Kam Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 There's still time! Don't give up yet. Even if it doesn't work out this year, you can try again next year with a bit more experience. I do hope things work out for you this year, though.
adam_cs Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks for the wish. Will let you know if I get any. anxiousapplicant and EelAwaits 1 1
bikefarm Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I feel for you and yes, hang in there! Hope for the best and expect the worst (as my sister has been telling me after my first 2 rejections). If not this year, definitely the next and keep us posted.
Ozymandias Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I feel for you. Think of it from training in what publishing will be like. Lots and lots of rejections from journals and critiques that can be quite harsh. Perseverance is certainly a job skill in academia. bikefarm 1
awaiter Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 You are not alone. 3 Rejections already 4th one is due. All the best
adam_cs Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 I know I am not alone. But it doesn't make anything better. I hope each one of us gets into someplace.
Lousy Test taker Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I know I am not alone. But it doesn't make anything better. I hope each one of us gets into someplace. Hang in there man,you will end up with an admit eventually. I got my first reject yesterday, more to follow in a while.I'm sure everything will work out for the good, All's well that ends well
magic Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm sorry to hear. How many did you apply to?
gumby4 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I am in the EXACT same boat. Applied to 10 and have been rejected by 4 (which I have only heard from 4). I don't like telling people because my professors had such faith in me I feel like I am disapointing people, I haven't even told my parents and I recently started devising a plan B.

That's what I feel. All I have done so far is nothing but disappointing them. I also started working on plan B. But some places require references again. This is a difficult situation.
trieutulong Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Don't give up man, you will get admission soon, good luck!
Tiglath-Pileser III Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I applied to 5 schools and have been rejected by 1. Now, I'm wondering if I didn't apply to enough schools. Now, that I am hearing about people applying to 10 or 12 schools and getting 4 rejects in a row. If I get 4 rejects, I'm out of the game. I really don't want to spend the next year as adjunct faculty.
AbaNader Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 1 reject, waiting for the rest of the 3 to reject me...trust me adam_cs, I know how it feels...keep your head up and hope for the best... Go outside and do something to make yourself feel better...
