  1. I actually consider this to be one of the strengths of the program, it saves you money on school and allows you to start working a year sooner to pay off that hefty tuition.
  2. I just got an email saying decisions for the MA programs will be sent out by March 1st.
  3. Agreed, the campus is beautiful year round.
  4. At least you've already heard back from 1 school. I'm going to go crazy this month waiting to hear back.
  5. Just sent my financial aid in today. I'm imagining that most people are going to send in the financial aid forms, they say that the average debt of a M.Ed student is $43,347.
  6. I believe that most of the masters decisions are sent out the first week of March.
  7. I thought Penn masters programs had rolling admissions until August.
  8. I'm almost finished with my LDT application. I've been an RA for the Psych dept. there since last year if you had any questions about the area.
  9. I submitted my application, paid the application fee and all the application checklist has green checkmarks. Where is the status displayed? I'm terrified that I'm missing something.
  10. I'm doing the same. The job prospects of a PhD in Psychology scared me away.
  11. I see you're applying to Stanford for cognitive. What are your interests and who would you like to work with?
  12. I've been told that it can hurt to wait that long(especially for top tier programs), unless you're doing relevant research up to that point. This is especially true for sociology where tenure-track professorships are incredibly difficult to find because professors are sticking around longer and there isn't a private sector you are specifically being trained for.
  13. Lab Manager positions and paid RA positions are getting fairly scarce. Many smaller labs are just using volunteer RA's. I actually had to interview for a volunteer RA position at Stanford last year.
  14. Harvard (TIE) Stanford (LDT) Columbia (CCTE) UPenn (LST)
  15. Excellent! Hopefully I can help you out as well. If anyone else is interested, please send me a message.
  16. What if you've worked in several labs? I've worked in 6, and I'm not sure if I should talk about them in the SOP or just on the CV/resume. I consider my research to be the strongest part of my application.
  17. I think that taking any of the stats or math courses to fill any gaps in knowledge would be useful, but besides that, I don't think it should matter.
  18. Would anyone like to swap SOP's? I just finished my first draft, and I would love to have someone take a look at it, and get an idea of what other people are doing. I'm worried mine is too dry. Thanks

  20. It was somewhat informative, but it mostly consisted of all the information found in the FAQ's. Does anyone know if there was already an info session for TIE?
  21. Did anyone else "attend" the virtual information session tonight?
  22. The only thing that not absolutely fantastic about your profile is the quant score on your GRE. Have you contacted any of the professors at the schools you're applying to yet?
  23. I would recommend being a research assistant in a cognitive lab. It'll save money, and honestly, you'll learn more of what you would need to do as a PhD student. You could also ask around and see if you could audit psych classes.
  24. One of the cognitive research labs I did research in as an undergrad had a grad student who got his bachelors in CS from Georgia Tech. His knowledge of programming and MATLAB was incredibly to everyone in our lab. Having a CS background definitely gives you an advantage.
