  1. For those of you who didn't get into IDEV and are in at Bologna, what would you study? There are few South Asia studies at BC, which was my backup plan. Does anyone know the SAIS perception (inside and out) of doing IR-General? I've read on here that the American Foreign Policy program is not so great. Thanks!
  2. In your experience, is SFS/MSFS not included in this group?
  3. In at Bologna (but didn't get into IDEV...)! Excited to wake up to this (I'm in India, so it came while I was sleeping). Although, I'm a little confused as to why GMail didn't mark the email important!
  4. I went to Columbia for undergrad and cross registered a few classes at SIPA. If you have any questions PM me or post here and I'll try my best to answer them.
  5. Good luck this week everyone!
  6. On the MSFS website they say that they normally receive 800-1000 applications and accept 20-30% of these. This makes sense for yield percentages because accepted students will decline for other offers. Correct me if I'm wrong, though...
  7. The SAIS website says that decisions and funding will be out on the 15th. So it looks like it will be a win-win, win-lose or a lose-lose for all of us next Friday.
  8. Well, I'm not exactly a grad student yet, but I majored in Political Science (International Politics concentration) with a minor in Economics.
  9. Fellowship information can be found here: http://www.sais-jhu.edu/graduate-studies/admissions-and-aid/tuition-aid/fellowships/apply
  10. Program Applied To (MPA, MPP, IR, etc.): MA/MALD/MIA Schools Applying To: SFS, SAIS, SIPA, Fletcher Undergraduate institution: Ivy Undergraduate GPA: 3.2 Last 60 hours of Undergraduate GPA (if applicable): 3.5 Undergraduate Majors: Political Science, minor in Economics GRE Quantitative Score: 153 GRE Verbal Score: 161 GRE AW Score: 4.5 Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): 1 year Years of Work Experience: 1-3(?) Describe Relevant Work Experience: Internships at a U.S. Senator's office, a small microfinance investment organization and a large international human rights organization during school (3 months, 13 months and 5 months, respectively). 1 year fellowship abroad in a developing country (currently in progress) providing consulting services to low-cost private schools. Languages: English, Spanish Quant: Economics Minor - did fairly well but not stellar. I did very well in Econometrics and took graduate level courses in international trade, public finance and political economy as well as financial accounting. Strength of SOP: Very strong based on multi-sector experience in international development (finance, governance, education) and tying in lessons learned abroad and as a NCAA Division 1 student-athlete. I think the analytical essay to SAIS is one of the strongest essays that I wrote, because it was focused on a sector that many are not aware of and its implications. Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): Senior seminar professor, supervisor at human rights organization, current fellowship field manager. My supervisor at the human rights organization let me read the letter that she wrote and it went above and beyone what I expected. I haven't seen the other two but I'm hoping that they are of the same quality. Long story short: I'm not totally sold on going next year unless I get into a two or three of the very few schools to which I applied, so that I can weigh options and choose one based on fit. For the most part, I applied for this cycle because I think that all of the requisite bases have been covered. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to share.
  11. Am I the only one who did not receive this email? I've checked both my primary and secondary email addresses.
