Irie_anthro I'm an international student set on moving to A2 in August also. These links should get you started: http://www.quora.com/Ann-Arbor-MI http://www.damnarbor.com/ and the off campus housing link: https://offcampushousing.umich.edu/property/rental PM me if you want to speak more specifically about anything. PS: from your screen name are you West Indian?

Once you don't qualify with the Visa waiver program, its going to be the B1 for business/pleasure. Use the letter you got from the school inviting you as the basis of your application and the department info as destination etc. Just got mine, missing the welcome weekend but going soon after. Hope this helps.

What were you doing when you got accepted?

It was after business hours on a Friday. I'd just had a stupid argument with the SO and came to refresh the Gradcafe and my inbox and there it was. The subject line was perfunctory but attached was the best news possible...took me hours to tell the girlfriend, we were still not speaking... -
Read this, think it is quite helpful: http://psychology.unl.edu/psichi/Graduate_School_Application_Kisses_of_Death.pdf

I'm 46. This is my 2nd time around and I got accepted (full funding) to one of the best ( read most competitive) programs in my field. And btw, to further complicate it all i'm international without a US degree... In my experience, age is NOT the most important number for adcomms -

Applying to very few programs? (all eggs in 1 or 2 baskets)

This was my second time to the dance. Last year I managed one admit but with no funding (rolling admits, late application = $0) out of four apps. I deferred that and this season applied to 2 schools, one in Communication Studies and one in Sociology (my research is very multi disciplinary). Got accepted to my program of choice, will be attending and will be withdrawing my interest from the other schools. -
Just getting this started for all bound to A2 in the Fall. It was my top pick and the first to notify, so my choice was easy... I'll be doing PhD Communication Studies Anyone else decided yet?
