I've just come back from mine. I missed the welcome weekend had committed early (my first choice) and I'm glad I visited by myself. The dept organised a programming which had me meet with DGS, attend dept colloquium, meet my future supervisors (got two), campus tour and some time with grad students. Having committed, I took the time to ask about dept culture etc and about the minutae of living in the city (recommendations for banking, food shopping etc and to look for a place to live. My recommendation is simple...enjoy it, you earned it and they want you. Buy a hoodie, cap or whatever so when you get back in the fall it'll be broken in and you won't look a total newbie...in other words make yourself comfortable and hopefully make a good impression. Congratulations!

I've personally had luck with the UMich off campus housing site.

Brandeis Sociology, PhD (Fall 2014): "I had never taken a sociology class and had no particular interest in any of the faculty's areas of specialization. I only applied because they waived the admission fee based on my GRE scores, so I commend them on their wise choice of rejecting me lol." This is my favorite because it exactly mirrors my motivation and application result. Good to know I wasn't the only one that did this.

I had the same problem. Got the departmental letter first, then three weeks waiting on the Grad school. Same doubts as you, will the grad school refuse my admission? Went to the admissions site and there it was...phew! The grad school email confirming acceptance came the same day. Just keep the faith, you're in...start thinking about the choice you have to make to distract yourself.
