SLP California Applicants for Fall 2014
Persis replied to dial1010usa's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
It is only one posting on the result search for CSUEB. The person claims they heard on April 4th. -
I think it goes by the courses. If your last 10 full courses were taken more than 10 years ago, then they will not accept it. After ten years you are out of luck.

I am not in school and my grades are not top notch more like average. I have been taken classes as well. I do have lots of related experiences as well. Maybe i will look into the Speech and Stuttering Institute. Thanks for your help.

You mean Psych lab at the school? What if you are not in school anymore?
-
CDA to SLP where did you volunteer for the research?

I did my undergrad at Brock in Speech and Language Sciences. The certificate course will be a stepping stone for American schools, but for Canadian schools you really don't need those courses other than maybe Phonetics. I don't see how that will help unless you want to increase your GPA or something.

I worked with her for two years as an SLPA. She acted like she had so much interest in me. She put that she doesn't know me well and that she will recommend with reservations. Had i known i would have gone back to where i did my volunteer work years ago. I got a letter from them, but it it is awhile ago, and the schools have their own forms so i couldn't really just send that letter.

Same here. Tell me about. What a way to keep grabbing money from us. I find it ridiculous.

Does anyone know if courses that you take after your undergrad are factored into your gpa after you have already graduated? Courses such as prereqs that you may need like the ASHA courses, repeated courses etc or they are looked at separately. In order words will your poor undergrad gpa remains the same forever even after taking classes because you have already graduated? Thanks!

I have not gotten accepted anywhere either. It looks like i will have to apply again in Spring. Is there a comprehensive list of schools that accept applications for Spring, winter, summer etc? Any help will be appreciated. -
Diversity in SLP: Is it improving?

I am also a black woman. I will say that American is even better than Canada. I was the only black female in my undergrad program, and yes, it is very intimidating. People here almost look at me like i am black and i can't be an SLP. SAD -

-
Oh okay. that make sense then. I am just thinking of applying next year if i don't get accepted anywhere this year.

It doesn't say last two years on their website. Are you talking about the SLP or another program? See below. To me this sounds like your entire undergrad. M.Sc.A. Entry Requirements: an undergraduate degree with a minimum of a B average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale); a set of course prerequisites (24 credits total) completed in excellent standing; your CV; a letter of intent (this requirement has been modified please see specific instructions); proof of English competency, if required.

Does McGill look at overall average? Not the last two years?
-
Congrats. i am so happy for you. I knew this is your year.

Thank you, my situation is just like yours, and i have people telling me that they will look out how long i took to get my degree. I find that very discouraging.
