I'm sorry to hear that I was really bummed last year when I was rejected, though it was a really nice personal email rejection, which lessened it a bit I guess. I'm not feeling very optimistic at this point. It's just such a great program that I'm trying not to give up hope on it just yet.

I'm in the same boat. Not really sure what is going on, I'm glad you emailed to check in as I've been debating whether or not to do so. I interviewed for the MCS track back in early January and haven't heard anything since. I went through the interview process last year and was rejected in early Feb. I don't really know what to think at this point, as it seems they sent out at least one rejection. It's my top choice and a fantastic fit for me, and the only one I'm waiting on at this point, as I've been rejected from the other two programs I applied to. Anyway, no news on my side. Just wanted to share in my anxiety over this wait.

Hi All, Just wanted to update and commiserate. I've been officially rejected by one school, unofficially by another (they already did interviews and acceptances, so I know its out), so I'm just waiting on my last one (which is my top choice). I interviewed at UW-Madison in early January and still have not heard back. The person I interviewed with said I'd have a response by late Jan or early Feb. So last week I PM'd someone that I knew had an interview, they received an acceptance in late Jan, but their POI said that there were two rounds of interviews and they were in the first one. I've since seen a rejection from this program from someone that had an interview, but have not heard anything at all myself. I'm not sure what that means for my status, but it feels so late in the game at this point. Last year I had an interview and received my rejection notice on Feb 8. I'm trying to decide if sending a polite email asking to see if my application is still under review would be a good idea. Probably not, but I'm just getting so tired of waiting...and waiting...and waiting. I guess I'll just keep trying to stay sane through the waiting. I think I can do that Anyway, I hope everyone is hearing good news or at least getting through the waiting! Best of luck!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone received any update since their interview. I was told decisions would be made by Late Jan/early Feb. Last year there was an acceptance posted on 1/29, and I heard about my rejection through email on 2/8. So, at this point, I'm thinking it may be rejection again. But, I haven't seen anything posted by anyone on the results page other than an acceptance in the Communication Science program. I'm still sort of clinging to hope...but it's getting harder each day. Thanks for any info you have!

I had an interview with Wisconsin-Madison Communication Arts in the Media and Cultural Studies program. I think a couple of other people also had interviews. No word on any acceptances yet, though. My research interests are in the area of contemporary television audiences and industries, convergence, participatory culture/fandom, and new media.

I thought I'd share, since when I first read this thread I thought, "Geez, I have not had a single dream about the app process." Until last night... So I'm waiting on my top choice, had a phone interview a couple weeks ago, and should hear back this week (if I get accepted) according to the results boards. It's pretty much the only place I want to go. Needless to say, I'm a anxiety riddled mess and have been having trouble sleeping and concentrating. Last night I dreamed that I received a really glossy brochure in the mail that said I was accepted! Also accepted was my best friend (dream best friend, not anyone I know in real life). And we then magically were transported to the faculty where they told us both how awesome our apps were. I woke up feeling excited and then immediately disappointed that the whole thing was not real. I went back to sleep and immediately had the next dream: I dreamed that I was back at my parent's home, which is strange because I live several states away. I received a very curt email saying that I was rejected and also managed (in a weird dream way) to get a copy of my file. It had a torn note on it and all I could read was "...please keep in mind that..." I started crying and debated whether or not I should email the admissions committee and beg them to reconsider. And then I woke up feeling horrible and depressed. I can't believe my subconscious is even an anxious mess.

Mine was PhD. I think they go through the MA candidates later...not positive though. The wait for news on this one is killing me! Good luck!

Hi XOwlfan, congrats on your acceptance! Would you mind saying which program you were accepted into within the Communication Arts department? I'm waiting on news regarding my Media and Cultural Studies app, and I know that each program has separate app committees/procedures. Thanks!

Hi! I also have an interview scheduled for next week. This is my second time applying to the program. I also applied last year and went through the interview process. It was very casual last year, and I expect will be the same this year. Basically they asked me to explain my research interests a bit more, talk about how I thought they fit in with the program, and then answered any questions I had. It was not really an interview, more like an informal chat. Actually, both years in the email I received to set up the call, they were very careful not to call it an interview. However, I think that this call is used to figure out which candidates on their shortened list fit the best, so it's still pretty important. I'm excited to have made it this far again, and I'm hoping I get better news this year than last. Hopefully the phone chat goes well. Good luck to you!
