I know what you mean. The only school I'm truly waiting on is my first choice. I emailed them on Thursday and Friday, but still haven't received any kind of response. I will probably call tomorrow if I haven't received any kind of reply. Hopefully they give me the decision over the phone. I don't want to end up just choosing one school over this one because they couldn't get back to me on time.

Can I back out of an offer I've already accepted?
joro replied to choijae's topic in 2010-2015 Archive
I think that's actually frowned upon. It would be best if you asked for an extension rather than accepting and then rejecting the offer later on. -
Craigslist without a US phone number
joro replied to Philippe's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
Maybe you can get a prepaid phone and use that as a temp solution. Is it possible to use Skype and set up a US phone number that way? I don't really use Skype, so I don't really know. -
I just need to know whether I got into this one school then I'll have my decision.

Is it possible to ask for an extension for the decision making deadline?

I'm in the same boat right now too. I'm still waiting on my first choice school and I was actually told by a staff member that I should be part of the group to receive a final review. If I made it past that final review, then I'm in basically. -
I'm more looking forward to this technology. I expect that the Microsoft Courier will include this technology when it arrives.

I want to go here, but I'm still waiting on my decision and it is driving me insane.

I say it doesn't really matter what you get as long as it fills your needs. All computers are vulnerable to viruses and hackers. Basically viruses affect more Windows based machines because most people use Windows. Virus makers would rather target the larger of the two. If Apple gets to the point where they out number Windows users, then you'll start to see more viruses. Anyways, you can go with a Mac and dual boot Windows and OSX. You can also go the other way around, but that requires more effort on your part.

You could always just make an estimate. It's not set in stone so you can always change it.

I wish I could say yes, but the application status site hasn't been updated. I know they have staff meetings between 12 - 1pm so I might wait till then. I'm thinking that they'll have a big button on the desk to press to release all decisions. I'll probably email them around 2pm if I don't hear anything.

Just another hour until it is Wednesday for their time and I just noticed I was accepted to another school.
-
My first choice said they're finalizing decisions today and posting it up on the website tomorrow. I'm rather nervous about it...

Accepted for a school, but application says incomplete now
joro replied to joro's topic in Waiting it Out
Oh no, this one is for Stony Brook. I've had issues with UC Irvine with my GRE scores. I contacted them and they said they have my scores, but the site still says that they haven't received it. -
I've been checking all my applications about twice a day. I received an acceptance letter via email last week for one school I applied to. Today, I check the website and it shows that my application is incomplete (missing transcripts). It never stated this until today. It always just listed my LORs and that was pretty much it. I'm not worried about this school in particular, but I find it strange that I've been accepted and my application is now incomplete.

It seems that if you plan to use a stylus that you must use a glove so that you won't end up writing with your hand instead of the stylus.

For those looking for an alternative to the iPad, there's also the HP Slate (no idea on release date). I'm still not interested in either since they don't really fit my needs, but they're always interesting to look at. Although the Microsoft Courier that sirjimbob posted is probably the only thing I'm interested in. It seems like a good alternative to an actual notebook or schedule book for school. http://www.slashgear.com/hp-slate-still-exists-and-this-rendered-video-proves-it-0580442/ http://www.slashgear.com/adobe-and-hp-show-off-slate-flash-and-air-take-limelight-0877107/ EDIT: It seems a couple artists from the other forum I use have the iPad and are capable of drawing on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is-t7fsU4Nw

I guess it really is April for me. I just got another rejection. I'm sad, but at least I know this whole waiting is coming to a close and I'll be able to decide on a school.
-
I frequent a forum with a bunch of artists who asked similar questions about using the iPad with a stylus to draw and no one agreed that the ipad is a replacement for a tablet. I'd rather buy a netbook or a tablet instead of the iPad for various reasons. -costs just as much as a tablet pc -no usb ports so you can't transfer data to an external -once your batteries can no longer hold a charge, Apple just gives you a brand new one. This might sound, but you're losing all your data on your current iPad. -you still need a bag to carry it around (why not just carry a tablet pc then?)

When it was in "AcadReview" the notice said it was sent to the department for academic review.

I was just thinking that he was the one that informed you that official funding would be announced so I thought that it might be okay to ask him. It isn't like you're bringing it up out of the blue, right? The Professor started the conversation of funding, so why not continue it?
-
Why don't you just email that Professor back and ask him if official funding for you has been decided? Seems pretty simple to me unless there's more to this.
-
April is definitely it for me. Just received another acceptance, but still isn't the one school I'm waiting for. I'm happy either way that decisions are being sent out now.
-
I thought it meant accepted? Perhaps not? Oh well, I'm still glad that the status changed to something else. EDIT: Searched other forums and it seems that people have received an acceptance after their status changed to referred. According to the posts I've read, it means that your app was referred to the school for admission.
-
Finally got another acceptance after 2 months of silence. I did my daily round of website status checks and found that my status has changed from AcadReview to Referred for OSU. Only 6 more schools left...

I'm pretty sure that I'm male.
