  1. I completely agree. My mgh waitlist letter says that they can admit me one week before classes start. Because one week is more than enough time to cancel work/school plans and find housing on the opposite coast. I don't know what I would do without the UTD acceptance.
  2. I think what is inspiring me is that I want to finish strong. Still it's nice to not have the stress of worrying about grad admissions.
  3. To be fair, UTD does not have a 4/15 decision deadline.
  4. I think grad schools plan for this, which is why some grad students accept students the week before classes start.
  5. I remember getting that too, shortly before my portal updated saying I was accepted (but shortly after I got the email from Dr. Stillman saying that I was in). I cannot see why they would ask for your final transcripts without admitting you, but I am not sure. The process has been convoluted! I'm now concerned that I can't register for classes until my undergrad degree has been posted, but that's two months after graduation. How do I go about proving graduation sooner?
  6. I personally am not sure of my identity as a PoC (I'm Indian), but I have also noticed that the field is overwhelmingly female (asha says 95% of SLPs are female). I think part of the reason I would like to enter the schools is to be in an environment in which they don't see many guys.
  7. Who is "them?" There is the SLP department located in Dallas at the Callier Center. Do NOT send transcripts to them. There is also the UTD main office in Richardson. You send transcripts there. This is the most plausible reason as to why your documents appear to be Schrodinger's transcripts - Callier may have them but Richardson may not. If you haven't already, I would fedex the transcripts to Richardson asap.
  8. You aren't a car, a phone, or some kind of product to be "marketed" to grad committees. You are a person with a lot going for you. I would focus on keeping your grades up, and choosing extracurriculars that you are passionate about, not those that you think will secure admission into a college.
  9. I would recommend calling them and asking about the applicstion and any updates. I'm also a bit concerned about the due date - it is 3 years in the past. Even if it is 5/1/15, I doubt transcripts showing degree conferral will arrive at that time.
  10. I submitted in January and heard back two weeks ago. Check on your applicant center at utdallas.edu/status to make sure that all materials have arrived.
  11. Finally got a rejection from emerson. Good to have closure!
  12. You say you have lab experience. I recommend looking up professors in your field of interest and contacting them. That should help with admissions. Good luck!
  13. Definitely call emerson. Even if you applied one minute before the deadline, it has been a week since they promised to send out all decisions.
  14. Let's lighten up the mood by posting music pertinent to this stressful season. I hope this is allowed in this forum! This song has been in my head throughout the admissions process: Edit: wrong link. I was NOT thinking of a Bollywood song!
  15. In their defense, the east coast schools had much earlier admission deadlines than west. At least for me, all of my Boston and NY schools were due by 1/5, while the California schools were due in mid January and February.
  16. If you have access to an accredited community college, you get get a sociology and stats course and do them over the summer cheaply.
  17. MGH is interesting - they're emailing us and telling us to check the portal in an hour.
  18. I just booked my flight for a visit next month! If anyone is going to be at UTD in early April, PM me (I don't want to publicly announce the dates though I trust you all). We should have a grad cafe accepted students meetup!
  19. They say "mid to late March" so they have 25 more days to notify us…
  20. Are there any schools that DONT send decisions out by waves? All the schools I have applied to have sent decisions to their top applicants already, but leave the rest in limbo.
  21. In a way. I forgot to fill out the supplemental application.
  22. Look for schools that offer an M.Ed degree, eg SJSU. Maybe also Columbia Teachers College?
  23. I can't imagine it would help this late in the game. If for whatever reason you find yourself reapplying, I recommend making contacts well before the applications are due.
