  1. ^ I'm thinking CSUF, but am also interested in Portland State. Which to choose...
  2. I've put all the easy things into CDSCAS if that counts lol.
  3. This is an interesting thread idea! I'm now really interested in Boulder!
  4. Chapman seems like the best Postbac for working students since it is night and weekend education only. Online programs are good, and some on these boards like them, but I have heard some complaints, mainly the lack of support from faculty.
  5. I'm feeling the same way, especially with GPA. Only thing to do is apply!
  6. I have heard informally that SFSU likes UC students, but that's the only instance I've come across. Also: I noticed you're interested in CSULA. What interests you about the program?
  7. Just curious on everyone's opinion. Hypothetically, let's say an applicant gets into Portland State and CSU Fullerton (CA resident). Is it worth the extra out of state price?
  8. SDSU requires prereq courses usually not found in a linguistics degree. Edit: fixed typo
  9. Some schools have 3 year extended master's programs, which you may want to look into.
  10. ^ that's what I thought...
  11. ^ In California, I am pretty sure CSU East Bay does not require GRE.
  12. School for us starts in early October (quarter system) so I plan to request letters around the first or second week.
  13. My uneducated guess is to just submit two essays: one CDSCAS and one for each school. It reminds me of the common app for undergrad: an essay for all schools and supplements for each specific school.
  14. My main anxiety is waiting for GRE scores to post. I'm worried I read them wrong and I scored lower than what I thought I saw on the screen. Then it will be essays. I have one draft for one essay down already, but have a ways to go.
  15. Maybe in an "additional information" box? I don't think it's that important, but I'm also applying this fall, so I could be wrong. I was also an engineering major, and I am including that on my essay to explain my low GPA. Maybe you could explain your part time status on your essay? For the record, my GPA is lower than yours.
  16. From what I have heard, and given the shortage of SLPs, I would say no.
  17. Thank you for your advice! I'm honestly thinking of only applying to extended masters programs and Portland State, as CA postbacs seem really hard to get into.
  18. ^ It is sad to hear of another option for out of fielders being discontinued. When are they planning to update their website? The prepatory program is still prominently mentioned there.
  19. As do Dominguez Hills, Fresno, and San Marcos. The latter two are simply taking classes as non degree students, though.

    Davis, CA

Anywhere east of Pole Line is generally mellow, whether in north, east, or south Davis.
  21. UCD student here! Why don't UCs offer a CSD degree? SJSU, Hayward, Pacific, and Redlands have extended masters programs. No communication courses necessary. Sacramento, Fullerton, Long Beach, Chapman (night) and CSUN (online) offer prereq programs. Only community college that offers them American river in Sacramento. Typical postbac takes 1 year. Extended masters are usually 3 years. Doesn't seem to matter where you get the degree but rather your GPA.
  22. Signed up! I'm looking forward to it!
  23. I know someone who wanted SLP but decided to go into child development instead. I also know another who switched to education. My school has a lot of students who quit wanting to be an SLP, since there's zero support for us and no CSD degree. Sigh.
  24. I'm in the same boat (linguistics major, so I have taken little to no prereqs). Some schools require a CSD degree, others look for specific prereq courses. Some schools even take out of field applicants in extended-length programs. Look at what your ideal grad schools want. Online prereq schools include Utah State, which has been mentioned highly on this forum.
