Hi everyone! I applied to University of San Francisco, UCLA, UMich, and UPenn. Anxiously waiting for admissions decisions! I applied to one year programs for the time frame and cost. My first choice would be UCLA! Glad we can all freak out together. Best of luck!

Well that's good information to know, thank you! In the past few months my interests have changed and I will be applying to the Higher Education/Student Affairs program at University of San Francisco, and the POLS program at Stanford. Hopefully I have a shot at USF at least!

Wondering what everyone's amount of work experience is that are applying to MA programs. I graduated in 2015, so by the time I would enter an MA program in 2017, that will have been 2 years of work experience. Do you guys think that's too little?

Hi everyone! I'm applying to International Education MA programs and from the Bay Area in California and planning to stay in the area for financial and family reasons. As a result, my choices are limited and I can only apply to University of San Francisco's International/Multicultural Education MA, Stanford's ICE/IEPA MA, and Monterrey Inst. of International Studies International Education Management MA. I think my chances into USF and MIIS are good, but I want to know if I should even consider Stanford. My GRE scores are really average. 155 Verbal and 154 Quant, yet my AWA was great, scored a 5! This was already my second time taking it and I don't want to take it again. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2015 majoring in Language Studies with a concentration in Chinese and Spanish. Minored in Modern Chinese History. My major GPA was 3.69 and my cumulative GPA was 3.65. I feel like my average GRE score and average GPA could made up for through my experiences the past couple of years. I've been heavily involved in K-12 education - volunteered in a 2nd/3rd grade classroom for 2 years, taught ESL to adult immigrants for 1 year, TA'd in an Algebra 1 class, and taught my own Geometry summer school course. This past year I was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan. I have experience doing research, although in the humanities rather than the social sciences. I've done archival research at Stanford and Yale campuses after being awarded a Humanities Undergraduate Research Award by UCSC for a Chinese history paper. I was a leader for 2 years in a student organization known for community service. I studied abroad in Argentina one summer doing intensive language study. What do you guys think? Do I stand a chance or should I just apply to USF and MIIS? Thanks

Hi All, Current alternate here. I'm thinking of reapplying for the Taiwan ETA, and I heard that its good to note that you were selected as an alternate previously. I'm just wondering, where would be a good place to put it? In the Personal Statement or Statement of Grant Purpose?
-
Does anyone know how many alternates there are in a given pool? I was thinking maybe 50% is (P), 25%is (A), and 25% is (NS). Or there could be less alternate and more non selects? Just want to know my chances here... :/
-
Well, Taiwan ETAs got notified! Alternate status for me....my heart is beating super fast and I'm not sure how to feel. Happy about not being rejected but iffy about waiting longer.... Congrats to those who got the (P) and lets stay positive alternates!
-
Well, if we don't hear back today, Taiwan will have its new latest notification date...
-
Are we at the point in which we won't be hearing about notifications every day now?
-
I give up. Found two programs to apply to in the meantime, because I've accepted defeat. Who am I kidding, I'm still constantly checking this forum and my email. I JUST WANT TO KNOW. I wonder why they're taking so long this year, really hope it doesnt take until May...
-
Congrats no more going crazy haha
-
Come on Fulbright, at least one notification every 24 hours would be enough to keep my sanity at this point... Here's hoping tomorrow we'll have an influx of notifications for all those supposed "early April" countries!
-
According to the spreadsheet, South Africa and Mongolia also got notified besides Kenya! At least that's something to keep me from going crazy
-
Research and ETA notifications for the same country usually come around the same time right? Since Taiwan research applicants got notified on Thursday, really hoping ETAs will find out this week....this is literally stressing me out, I can't even focus on the things that need my concentration now such as trip planning and working on my research project
-
So before we found out Taiwan research notifications yesterday, I had emailed Jonathan Akeley and he just replied with this " At the present time we are still waiting for the final selection approvals for the ETA program in Taiwan." Sigh...
-
If not today, hopefully tomorrow...
-
Congrats!! :DD
-
omg omg omg i am shaking and heavily breathing with you!!! congrats!!! hoping the ETA applicants get their emails soon!
-
I feel the same way!! I actually emailed Jonathan Akeley yesterday because I was getting so anxious yesterday...now not only will I be looking out for taiwantroubadour, but also ev108! Every time my phone vibrates to tell me I got an email, I feel super nervous and my heart skips a beat...then when I check it, its not Fulbright...sigh any day now... It does help ease my anxiety each time I see comments on this thread about new notifications though! Very happy for everyone who has found out so far
