I've been here since the summer so idk if its seasonal but i think its more likely climate. I do get heat exhaustion but theres also a lot of different spores in the air around here that seem to affect me. My body seems to react best to mountain regions/topography. Plus theres nothing bf and I enjoy around here. We are mostly walkers around parks and neighborhoods. But we can't do that here :/. Also we are on a tight budget so its not like we can just randomly visit state/national parks all the time. We have already been to the closest one around here. Sorry for complaining!

@hippyscientist Lol tbh a lot of people randomly pick teams. At least you have one, i don't mess with people who claim to have two or more teams they are fans of. Get out of here with that disloyalty crap lol. Honestly, i think so. Plus where i did my undergrad, we don't have that many fossils in regards to triassic reptiles, we mostly had clams, snails, etc. Lol oh trust me i completely understand technician fails. At one of the museums I was an intern at, we had to mount a cast that we created. But we had to weld the base and the rods....lets just say that if we were on project runway, we would not have finished in time

@hippyscientist It was the seahawks, I'm rooting for the falcons to win this year. They may have kicked me out of the playoffs, but the patriots broke my heart several years ago ha. Also we deal with 3D printer vs chemicals to create the cast by mixing and pouring them into a mold for replica fossils. So I kinda know what you are talking about. But guys, guess what?! I impressed my boss because I was able to remember all the bones and their locations/characteristics!! I'm super pumped on myself lol

@hippyscientist Hope you are feeling better! I've been sulking, my team lost in the playoffs lol. But good news, is I'm really loving everything about my course and my instructor seems wonderful. Its way to early but I'm kinda hoping she may be on my panel. But idk if its a good idea/will it work out since this course is online

yay and congrats! -
@MarineBluePsy I think thats a smart idea. I recently have developed the unhealthy obsession with family feud, I would be awesome at that show. Ahhh second semester starts tomorrow. Going back to work was a bit meh, but I started pounding the pavement in studying. Annnnd one of my references still hasn't upload their letter yet for my internship booooo

Has this happened to you? #nomotivation
Need Coffee in an IV replied to HermoineG's topic in Coursework, Advising, and Exams
Yes its happening to me right now. I didn't do as much as I wanted/expected to do over the break. I lightly read some general info in my field, worked on an internship application, and scoped out possible leads for my required internship for my program. But I didn't do much academic reading, and learning skeletal systems. There also has been some family tensions that have caused me to lose focus. I really need to up my game and focus on learning bones. I agree with fuzzylogician to not be hard on yourself. Everyone has lulls or runts. So just know you aren't the only one!- 4 replies

What does your office look like?
Need Coffee in an IV replied to sjoh197's topic in Officially Grads
Glad to see you are alive and kicking! My "office" is at home, basically a target desk and my laptop lol. I have my textbooks either on the table surface, in the shelving part, or a bookcase in the living room. Technically, I have an office at the museum but I never used it. I like being home when I work. -
Oh I don't mind! I've talked about it on another thread so I'll keep it brief. The TA for one of my courses and I didn't exactly mesh. The TA seem to make life a lot more difficult for me in general when it came to a semester project. She also found out I wasn't going to her party and cornered me after our final to demand an explanation. I told her we didn't seem to click and I thought it was more polite/logical to skip out. She then proceeded to tell everyone at the party that I called her a bitch. Overall, it felt very high school and I'm happy to put it behind me!

@GreenEyedTrombonist Thats nice that your dad actually respects you and your choices. Sigh..I just know that it won't ever change unless I try to force it to change. Who knows, maybe not visiting them for a couple of years will make them realize this controlling behavior isn't acceptable. Thanks for listening! Idk if he will ever change, he really needs therapy. But I do know I can change how I react to him

@MarineBluePsy See my dad did offer that but I said no lol. I refuse to be in a car with him by myself. He might kick me out of the car. He's kicked me out the house before. I've learned that I should always have the possibility to have options and not be stuck. @Pink Fuzzy Bunny Yep! It was so much fun, the road trip of a life time. I highly recommend it!

I know exactly what you mean! Honestly I was surprised because they knew I was visiting her, so I didn't realize I was dropping a bomb. My dad is one of those who thinks Obama is the worst thing in existence. Its annoying. @MarineBluePsy I know right?! I drove to Alaska from Virginia but that was okay because a man was with me apparently. I was planning to leave at 8 am and getting there around 6. Plus I could get kidnapped at any gas station. Its not like there is a certain mile radius that I'm safe in lol. Yeah her grandparents are very excited to meet me. We've been best friends since 6th grade and talk daily. My dad is very controlling and it has an impact on our relationship.

I'm back from visiting my family! It was draining. My dad flipped out when I casually mentioned how I was staying with my best friend and her family when I go visit her. He kept saying that I'm putting myself in danger because I'm staying with a black family in Arkansas.....He went on a huge rant how there is a giant racial divide, that I'm going to get kidnapped/murdered, and how I'm putting my best friend/her family in danger because me being white somehow puts a target on them. He also freaked out how I was planning on driving 9 hours because that increases my chances of dying and how could I disrespect him for not telling him sooner. He also demanded how could my bf let me go. My bf doesn't own me and my bf thinks my dad is either a psychopath or bi-polar. My bf thinks my dad is verbally abusive. Sigh....families are dysfunctional at times

My goals are to locate an internship, pass my qualifying exams, and do well in my masters program. I'm hoping to get an internship this summer, it will definitely help cushion my savings. I'm planning on getting a cat, which I think will help my anxiety. Its not necessarily a goal, but I'm hoping to be a more supportive person in general and particularly to my bf. I also need to learn how to cook.

@MarineBluePsy I don't have to get the funding, I just need to apply. Their reasoning was that way they could help other students? It didn't make much sense to me but luckily I don't have to get it to still receive my fellowships @rhombusbombus Thats what I'm telling myself, thanks though! I'm in DC with my mom, yay!
