Housing: advice needed. Which one to choose?
Need Coffee in an IV replied to virtua's topic in Officially Grads
I guess my question which one is less likely to be sealed up pretty well? I guess that's a weird question but all the places I've rented from have had cracks somewhere which lets bugs in. This may not be a problem for you but usually something so small points to larger issues. I would be overwhelmed by two people but I've only lived by myself or with my boyfriend. They both sound fine to me! Also don't expect to get your full deposit back. Maybe half? At least that's been my experience and my friends. Its one of the easier ways to make money off of you -
I'm sorry that everyone's had a rough week. I generally get a long with the majority of my classmates. I would say only a couple are my friends though. The others are friendly acquaintances that I talk to in class. My points were 18/50.......but apparently I entered my data wrong so I went and fixed it. Even though they never said how they wanted me to put my name in the recorder section. So that should boost my points. I got two papers back and they were As. I also decided which classes I want to take for next semester! They are library classes ( language literacy education). I'm hoping this expands my potential of landing a job afterwards

@MarineBluePsy No I can't fail my group members.....i really want too. And oh guess what?! My group was scheduled to go to the warehouse to do the project but the TAs cancelled our session because they decided to take the afternoon off. I get they have quals in the morning but don't offer the afternoon as an option! I'm really about to lose it.

sorry that you guys are having a rough time. I'll most likely get a B in one of my courses because of my group....we have a major assignment which is basically cataloging/inventorying a major collection and creating a moving plan. but we have to work in groups and were assigned them. my group members have repeatedly been late or haven't shown up at all. and i need one person with me to actually do the assignment. two of my group members have outside jobs and can only meet basically one day.....and we need to get 50 points each. i've verbally communicated with them about times, emailed them to confirm the times, and yet they still let me down. I also have to make up my work hours because the only time when people can meet is when I work. So I suck it up and bend over backwards to get this done. And on top of that, I get blamed by the TAs for not being a team player. I'm so over it.

Me?! Tired of Reading?!
Need Coffee in an IV replied to jujubea's topic in Coursework, Advising, and Exams
I also find my readings to be boring. What I do is write down notes as I go along and questions/points that I think of while I'm reading. This way I actually have something to say in class. -
@Pink Fuzzy Bunny Ouch I'm sorry about that. Grades are pretty much like money, just talking about them sets off landmines. @Neist I care a lot, maybe a bit too much lol. I would have to say I've become a lot less worried though. It seems like I'm plateauing with my ratio of level of effort and grades, so I'm focusing my neurotic behavior on other things ha

still surviving and thriving. inventory will kill me one day though ha. its fun to organize all the samples! plus one of my bosses request my CV because he thinks i'll be perfect for a particular grant he is working on. so far lowest grade has been an A-. Its nice to see people haven't died from stress yet! Still having trouble identifying bones though sigh

He sent back more criticisms and i sent in a third version. All he responded back was "reasonable". He's just one of those people who say barely anything unless its a critique. Oh he's in the art division of the museum so I won't be needing him on my committee. I'll be fine but I want to complain about him lol. sorry about your troubles!

sooooo i already am annoyed at one of my professors. his personality and mine seem to clash a little. he told me that my idea for an annotated bibliography was poorly articulated so i emailed him a new version along with the power point I'm presenting in class for a reading. all he emailed me back was to make sure i read the recently uploaded version of my article. Read the article, not much of a difference. No mention how my new version of my annotated bib was......

@MarineBluePsy Trust me, it was a struggle ha. I'm going to have the graduate writing center to make sure its not complete garbage. I haven't written in that type of style before. Geology was way more straight forward. Tbh I would have preferred for Melissa to stay home lol. And I can't imagine man hunting while doing homework. Homework puts me in a bad attitude .

that's awesome! the only time I ever liked Starbucks coffee is when the barista in question, was 99.99999% high from smoking pot. So its unlikely for that to be a common theme, so i'm not bothering with Starbucks. Besides I like making my own coffee. Its cheaper and it always turns out exactly the way I want. @Pink Fuzzy Bunny Either your study/home work habits aren't compatible or she's more focused on hanging out. I know I wouldn't be able to do home work in coffeeshops, restaurants, or other places like that. I need zero distractions. So I either work at home or I go to the museum's students resource area. @Effloresce Do you just wear headphones then? I would be distracted from people watching. Plus I haven't found a coffee place with a decent size table to work on. They are always so tiny.

welp i fell in love with a cat. I'm going to see him tomorrow. I really want to adopt him but my current place is no pets. With bf moving I don't want/need all this space plus i don't want to deal with bugs. I tried asking my landlord to convert my lease to a 6 month lease and then month to month. So its not like I would be breaking my lease and he's had short term renters before. He said no, sigh.
