    Hi there! I personally think you sound like a great candidate! I myself graduated with a degree in Economics and spent 6 years in the advertising industry before applying for MSW programs. Plenty of people make career changes, and frankly, you are very young! The internship you currently have for medical social work sounds extremely relevant. When I decided to make a career change, I had 2 relevant volunteer experiences which I undertook while working full time. As long as you can convey that you have the key values to be a social worker and connect the dots between what you're doing now and where you want to go, you will do just fine! I felt just like you last year and I'm quite a bit older, so it's totally okay! I'll be attending USC this Fall and believe it or not, many professors and incoming students have spent many years doing something completely different. MSW programs are no strangers to 'traditional' social work students. Make sure you have strong LORs and a strong personal statement! Hope this was helpful. Best of luck!

    @mannyone sorry to hear it sounds like you were more than a qualified candidate to me. Are you waiting on any other schools? Also, when you logged in, what password did you use?

    I'm still waiting to hear back from my first choice MSW program. I called them last week and they said they would deliver all notifications by last week. Still nothing for me. I haven't listened to Linkin Park since middle school, but now seems like an appropriate time to listen to "In the End."

    @Winchester67 thanks for the note here! it's nice to have some idea on timing! i mailed out my packet on jan 13, so it was very close to the deadline for the 2 year program. i hope they get back to me soon! congratulations, and good luck in the fall!!!

    Has anyone else heard back from CSULB? I have not received any communications since Jan when they confirmed receipt of my application.

    @Hopeful2017!@12sliders it's nice to know we're in this together! I just called Tiffany btw and she said they are very close to wrapping up decisions and we should receive a notification (accept or deny) by end of week, and at the latest next week. Fingers crossed for those still waiting!!!

    @Hopeful2017!If you still haven't heard back, you should expect to hear back mid-late March. Quite a few have heard back so far... if it's helpful I would recommend reading this thread : I'm still waiting too! I submitted Jan 15.

    hi everyone! it's so nice to have a platform here to share resources and news. after weeks of anxiously reading posts and waiting on admissions decisions, I can finally say I have been admitted into USC! I'm still waiting on UCLA, which is my first choice, but it's nice to know I have a school to attend in the Fall. If this is helpful for others: Application was marked as completed and under faculty review on 2/21 Notified of admission decision today (3/9) at 3:00 PM via E-mail Undergraduate Degree: B.A. Economics, UC Irvine Cumulative GPA: 3.45 I have 5 years of advertising experience, and wanted to pivot to Social Work a year ago. Since then, I have been doing volunteer work in the evenings. I have a little over 1 year of volunteer experience. I have also completed additional training certifications in social work related fields.

    oh man, it seems like almost everyone who has been posting here and has applied has heard back so far!!! starting to get really worried. i know there are a few others waiting still... hope we all hear good news soon

    @MarleneM thanks for getting back to me! totally hear you, grad school is no joke. keeping my fingers crossed and hoping you get some good news your way! btw, based on last year's postings, it looks like the fellowship announcements came in March!

    @fkk16672: i applied around the same time as you (1/30) and just received a notification that they will let me know in 2-4 months. Can you let me know when you start getting notifications from USC?

    so it looks like it took about 2 months after you submitted your application to receive your acceptance notification? did they notify you via E-mail? I also applied for UCLA and CSULB, but they don't have rolling admissions like USC does. I believe UCLA decisions are due mid-March to end of March. GOOD LUCK!
