  1. Should I be nervous my NPSIA is only preliminary review required? My last name starts with an S.
  2. Someone from uOttawa told me today that they hope to send offers out by early March.
  3. I've never heard of them having an MPA program! I think for a degree in public admin, it's probs best to do it in one of the big "more government" type cities like Ottawa or Toronto. I feel your coop opportunities and the ability to be close to the action, will be very useful to you if you do it in one of those cities. I've also applied to uOttawa's MPA program - but it seems more theoretical than Carleton's MPPA program, which seems a bit more practical and hands-on.
  4. Anyone else apply to Carleton's MPPA? If so, I'm wondering why you may/may not be more drawn to doing an MPPA or doing a master's in international affairs (GSPIA/NPSIA)
  5. LOL me too. I have like 4 transcripts from uottawa ,3 resumes, and a random additional form that I never submitted? My list of documents is extremely long haha.
  6. The only thing that should have been added is a new letter of intent, but it doesn't show two 'letter of intents' acknowledged in receipt. It only shows one acknowledged receipt of a letter of intent. But I'm assuming that's what they updated? I don't like how they don't tell you what it is!
  7. Super weird... I got an email from uottawa saying they updated my admission file. I thought it was maybe the new letter of intent? But it shows 3 resumes checked off :S interesting... im confused haha
  8. I said I wanted to add more about my new job experience at Global Affairs. Hopefully they accept it!
  9. I mean skimming over it, its hard to tell the difference I find. I'm wondering if I could just tell the administrator, I actually submitted the wrong version? And not even mention the error.
  10. FML just realized in my letter of intent I put "GPSIA not GSPIA" - do you think I could revise and send them a new copy of the letter?
  11. *When you get anxious about possibly not getting into any master's that you start looking up college post-grad programs* hahaha the waiting is seriously killing me!!
  12. Okay good to know! What is everyone's programs ranks/why? I applied to a lot of the same programs and just want to see your thoughts
  13. Anyone still on preliminary review required for NPSIA? I'm under evaluation for GPSIA and uOttawa's Public Admin and recommended for assessment for Carleton's MPPA.
  14. I think it speaks more to their specific program, not the broader global affairs field. If anything, I feel global affairs has increased in interest/importance with the new travel bans, immigration laws, trump admin, etc.
  15. Yeah probs! I submitted my documents really early and uoZone has acknowledged receipt of all the documents so I'm hoping that will work in my favour! The waiting game is on hahah
  16. Last cycle, there was someone who got a GPSIA acceptance on Feb 11th. Hopefully they're this quick this year too!
  17. You too I'm not too sure! I didn't apply to Munk because it's sooo expensive and I like the fact that being in Ottawa for school provides a lot of coop/fswep opportunities - I currently work for Global Affairs Canada now so I'm hoping that will help the application haha. But, I have a friend in the Munk program and she really loves it. I'm sure you have great stats! You got this!
  18. My last name starts with an S! So I'm not sure. Mine was on recommended for assessment on January 31. My application has been complete since November so maybe that's why? Hopefully they will be getting back to me soon then! Not sure about Munk I heard around 300 applications per year and accepts 80.
  19. For my NPSIA letter of intent, I was researching their faculty and I was like... is this it? You compare to GPSIA's Miles Corak, Finnie Ross and Roland Paris to name a few and the knock it out of the water. My biggest worry with NPSIA was when I heard some students were getting coop jobs as bank tellers - that's not what an applicant likes hearing haha. However, working at GAC, I've met a lot of NPSIA grads and they've said good things. But, something to keep in mind is that there is a reason why most of us are all noticing GPSIA's strengths and questioning NPSIA ( and every thread from previous years have debated this) - another reason why GPSIA is for sure on the rise.
  20. GPSIA is definitely my first choice. The faculty of professors seems amazing, the funding and coop opportunities, smaller class sizes, etc. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the professors at NPSIA. I think the people I could have the chance to meet and work with at GPSIA will be the most important thing. They will be the ones that will give job references, etc. That, along with their coop opportunities makes them a winner in my eyes.
