With all sincerity I meant no harm and was just sharing information. I didn't know you could post links as I'm fairly new at posting on this particular board. Some boards have prohibited the posting of links in the comments section. There is some truth to to socapp2017 post, out of the 9 PhD programs I applied to, I did get rejected from 5, but interviewed at 2 and received an offer ($20,000 fellowship/GA) from one so far. Good luck to you all.

Hello, Interesting question, I never thought about negotiating a graduate funding package so I googled "can you negotiate graduate funding" and actually found older posts from gradcafe, I doubt I can place links here, so how about you google it and see what comes up.

This post was the bomb dot com?. Finished my interview and it went well. While on the tour, I received an acceptance to a masters program, so that was a total surprise

I heard from Penn State in the post. Of the ten PhD programs I applied to, I have been officially rejected by 3 (Kent and Penn State, U of Wisconsin), because it's so late in Jan, I seriously doubt I will get more interviews. -

I called them. I don't think I'll get it as someone on gradcafe said they received admission via email. This morning Kent state denied me as well. -

Ohio says pending for me as well. I was rejected from U of Wisconsin's Civil Society program, Penn State says I'll get something in the mail (assume a rejection). -
For All Those Waiting but Disheartened by Rejections
johnallen replied to day_manderly's topic in Waiting it Out
I applied to 10 PhD programs and have been rejected by three schools already. I am pissed but ok at the same time if that makes any sense. I do have 2 interviews, however nothing is guaranteed. -
Sorry for the reposts. I accidentally responded wrong, several times I now realize. You can email the program to verify the info.

I contacted the program. It is the avg of both scores. My apologies, I was told they usually accept 4-7, not 7-10.

I also applied to this program for 2017. B.A in Honors Psychology : Summa Cum Laude (3.95). Honors Thesis, McNair Scholar. I don't think I have much of a shot though. My GRE scores were terrible 156 V, 136Q, AW 3 I understand they receive 100-125 apps and accept 7-10 ppl. Any GRE scores above 70 percentile get reviewed. I contacted the program. Applying to Programs with LOW GRE score - HELP
johnallen replied to book2readme's topic in Applications
My stats are 3.95 GPA, McNair and University Honors scholar. Undergraduate Honors thesis with GRE scores of 156 V, 136 Q and AW 3. I applied to a mix of 9 PhD programs. Got two interviews on same day (Dec 22). Point is... Apply!, your stats are amazing. I think you should Apply. -
You have to do what's best for you. Pick the program the aligns closely with your research interests.
-
Why?, this is an amazing score. I would seriously cry tears of joy if I got this score. Best of luck.

Hello all, I need advice, I am a McNair Scholar and University Honors student. I work with an amazing mentor for my thesis. I am torn in deciding whether or not to tell her I have a felony conviction from 10 years ago for ID Theft. I have a 3.94 GPA and have been on the Dean's List more than 5 times over the course of my academic career. Should I disclose to her that I have a felony? I ask because I will be applying to some grad schools that ask about criminal backgrounds. I am also in another bind, a Director of Graduate Studies from a top R1 school has agreed to write me a letter and talk me up to colleagues in the dept I will be applying to (same school that asks about criminal history), should I tell him that I have a felony? I don't want him to risk his reputation or be surprised if confronted about this from the Adcomm. I don't know what to do. I'm I deceiving by not telling? It was one infraction long ago, I may not even be admitted to this place.
