Hi everyone! I have decided to attend UT Dallas in the Fall and I am looking for a roommate in the area. I don't mind if you are from another SLP program since there are a few in the area. I am looking to live near Uptown or Oak Lawn, but I am willing to compromise. I am moving from Florida so I do not know the area well. I will have a cat with me, so being pet friendly is a must. I have talked to two speech pathologists and they have both told me to pick the more affordable school! I would talk to some SLPs that work with multilingualism/multiculturalism and ask them if going to a school with those experiences is necessary. If you can learn about them during CEUs, externship, or CF, maybe picking the cheaper program would be better, but I would definitely talk to someone in that area of expertise.

Has anyone received their acceptance letter yet? I was accepted on My Madison, but haven't received any information yet except for the open house detials. I was hoping there would be info about funding there.

Has anyone heard about funding from them?

Does anyone know anything about UCF's program? I spoke to someone who graduated from there and they said that they felt like UCF didn't prepare them for the their first job and that their clinical practicum program was not the best. Has anyone heard anything similar? I have been accepted to some better programs but have the option of living rent free if I go to UCF. Anything you know about the program would be helpful!

summer, I'm taking 2 classes and practicum (9 hours total). I hope this helps a little bit! Thank you! You guys have been so helpful. I haven't committed to UT Dallas yet but it is one of my top choices. I am just trying to account for all the costs. Living in Dallas is a little more expensive than my current city.

Does anyone know how many credit hours you take a semester? Dr. Stillman told me it was about 39 credit hours for class and 18 credit hours for practicum total, but I was wondering how many per semester. I am trying to calculate the cost of tuition, but it is hard because it is on a graduated scale so the more credits you take per semester the cheaper it is per credit.

I got an e-mail saying that the open house is March 24, 2017 from 3:30-5:00pm or Friday March 31, 2017 from 3:30-5:00pm. Do you have any idea when we will hear about funding? I don't want to attend the open house (since I have to fly there) without knowing about funding.

I was accepted to JMU yesterday and was wondering how soon funding would be announced. I am interested in going to their open house, but do not want to fly there without knowing if I received funding. Does anyone have any idea of when we should hear?

Does anyone know anything about assistantships at UT Dallas? I am waiting on my FAFSA to process to see if I qualify for a work study, but was wondering if I should be applying for assistantships.

I am waiting for the University of Arizona, University of Maryland, and Florida State University! Anyone know if they announced them yet? What are you guys waiting on?

Thank you! I will definitely avoid the West End. Do you spend more time at Callier Dallas or in Richardson? Oak Lawn and the village seem to be the most popular complexes, are there any other ones you can recommend? How long is the drive to each location from the SMU area with traffic? Sorry for all these questions!

I looked at the previous posts, but was wondering if you have learned more about housing in the past year. I noticed that the village and oak lawn seem popular. What areas are safe and which should I avoid?

Hi K_kismet! I am going to visit UT Dallas in a few weeks. I was wondering what you wore to visit campus. Business casual? or Jeans and a t-shirt?

If you don't mind sharing, what is the cost of tuition for in-state?

I am just now noticing that some schools say they take 5 semesters, while others say they require 6 semesters. Also some of my schools don't mention how long it takes at all. What are some pros and cons of each? Are you taking less classes at a time with the 6 semester schools? I am a CSD major so my prereqs would be done.

Did anyone get an official letter with any information? The only things I have gotten are e-mail that my decision was made and an e-mail about graduate housing.

We don't have to let them know if we are accepting before funding comes out, right? I didn't see anything that said when we had to accept by.
