Hey all! Thanks again for everyone who offered encouragement after I was super worried about my shaky phone interview. If you wanted an update: I received an email yesterday with an invite for the onsite interview, stating they were very impressed with my phone interview, haha. I guess you never really know what they're thinking or looking for!
Interview is for UMD College Park in February.

I tried not to freak out too much last week because I assumed most people were on vacation the week between Christmas and New Years. Now it's Friday of the first week back and I'm starting to get nervous...Ahh! I'm sick of not sleeping because of anxiety  who else feels this way?

Not yet! Last year it looks like interviews went out in December and January, so they will probably be out soon.

If your neuroscience programs are through the psych program this might be relevant to you! That's why I'm here, most of mine are through psych departments. With that being said, I applied to the neuro program at Marquette and their deadline isn't until January 15th. I'm not sure what your research interests are though. Here's the link (their website is not the greatest...) http://www.marquette.edu/grad/programs-neuroscience.php

vallaboop reacted to Left Skew in Data on Grad Cafe Psychology Results
    Hello everyone,
I've seen quite a bit of chatter around the timing of results, and the answers are obscure. I wanted to provide my services, and give you all some extra data. The beauty of grad cafe is that it is one of the most (if not the most) centralized data source for graduate students. Some data examples: What schools are most popular, what degrees, applicant metrics, dates of results, etc. Yet, I've yet to find someone that uses this information to help those applying.

    Until now...

I used R (for those unfamiliar) to scrape the grad cafe results data related to psychology. I returned about 35000 records. There were a lot of un-tidy text strings (e.g., PhD and Ph.D.), especially in relation to program-title and institution; however, that is a project for another day. Data regarding dates and decisions did seem clean enough for me to analyze it and turn it into something nice for you all.

    So what is it....?
Here is a PDF based on the results of all Psychology students (over 35000) since the origin of grad cafe. The first 3 tables show the 10 most common dates (by count) for getting an interview, getting accepted, and getting rejected ? .  I would do relative frequency and should've...maybe tomorrow.
Then a longitudinal line graph (which shows these decisions throughout the year)
Finally, one that focuses more on the "critical-period" when most decisions are made.

    Conclusion
This was a piecemeal job that I should be done in R Markdown. I'll link my code at the end. Similar methods could be used to look at the "most popular" programs, probability of acceptance by degree type or program type, average GRE score for accepted candidates, and the list goes on. If anyone wants a csv of the dataset I used, please feel free to message me. I also welcome critiques and suggestions.  I wish you all the best.

I'm sure it's fine! Phone interviews are awkward because you don't get social cues from body language. I wouldn't worry!

Did the POI say it was okay to apply even if the app was a bit late? I know it's okay for LOR to be received a bit after the deadline. You might want to reach out to the admissions office to see if they received all your materials and what not. If you submitted at 12:00 am on the 16th I highly doubt that will be a big deal. If it let you submit and pay you should be okay. In regards to your personal statement, I've noticed an error in one of mine as well, as long as the rest of your letter is strong I think it will be okay. Errors happen even in published journal articles so don't be too stressed out! To err is human. In regards to Rutgers New Brunswick, I applied to the behavioral and systems neuroscience track of the psych program and I haven't heard anything yet either. I haven't head of anyone hearing back yet. I think it is still early, especially since this school had a later deadline. So keep your head up!

I feel exactly the same way! Other peoples good vibes is helping me not go completely insane but at the same time it's making me nervous. I was already worried about disappointing myself. Hopefully other peoples positivity  will give us the confidence to do well in our interviews so we have the best outcomes!

Wouldn't it be fantastic to live in Europe for a period? Would it be a French pastry chef?
You know, I've secretly (or not so secretly) always wanted to open a pub. I thought it would be the coolest place ever. I LOVE your restaurant idea

    This is a great idea!
"Best"/actual plan: stay in my current full-time position as a research coordinator to gain more research experience and earn a letter of rec from my current PI (I've only known him for 3 months so I didn't ask for an LOR from him this time 'round).
Crazy plan: Quit my job, move to Europe, and intern under a pastry chef.
