  1. I can’t sleep and I am working today at 8am.
  2. Same here, the main scientific publication I had was a book review. No formal publications, at this point except for conference presentations, research assistantships, etc. But it's a bit normal in my field since I am not yet a PhD student, so this is the stage of my career that it's more accepted that I don't have publications. Congrats to you too!
  3. It sounds like NSERC and CIHR are very intense in terms of expectations for Vanier. You guys all sound amazing.
  4. Same here! Good luck to everyone! I definetly remember when I applied For this scholarship and how surprised I was when I got selected for it. I’m also rooting for you all!
  5. I saw that a few people decline every year, not many but a few apparently (if they get funding from elsewhere or something).
  6. Yes, I volunteer since a very young age so I have a lot of volunteer experiences ! Mostly community work!
  7. Let's some some people decline the award so you guys can get the scholarship!
  8. As I expected, research potential was my lowest score! Academic excellence: 7.10 Research potential: 5.75 Leadership: 7.90 Overall score: 6.92 Rank: 50/172. At this point, I don't care about my rank, I am so lucky because I haven't started my PhD yet and I was in competition with upper-year PhD students. I'm so happy and relieved, I almost got a heart attack when I saw the email!
  9. I'm sorry! Try again next year if you can, you'll be an even stronger applicant!
  10. It says to the left, Check Application Status!
  11. I will be living with a roommate next year. It'll also my first appartement (I still live with my family). At first, I was thinking of moving out on my own, but one of my friends introduced me to this girl who will also be starting her PhD in the same university as me (but in another program). I also googled her and found that that she wrote op-eds for newspaper, did humanitarian work in Africa, considers herself to be a feminist, anti-racist researcher. I met her a few weeks ago at a café, and she also doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't party much (just like me). I think my friend did a good job in thinking we would be a good fit. Plus, we're going to support each other during the first year of PhD studies.
  12. If you get the email, tell us here! I guess we have three more days before we know about Vanier!
  13. Yes, in September though living in montreal right now !
  14. Agreed! He even helped me with my leadership statement for Vanier! Thank you so much for your help!
  15. Hello folks, My first authored journal article got rejected from the first journal I have submitted it to. I was wondering if you knew about academic journals who would publish the work of a masters student in social work. My research focuses on sexual violence against women, and practices surrounding disclosures of sexual violence. Any help would be appreciated. If the journal in French, that would be a bonus. I am looking online but they all seem to publish only large samples of participants... Thanks,
  16. How do you guys manage the anxiety related to results? The waiting is hard lol.
  17. I don't know where you live but student housing for September fills up really quickly. The time is now. For regular appartements, I'd say in June/July for September?
  18. Let’s hope we’ll have the results early too!
  19. What was the expected date of results for NSERC?
