  1. Still no news. I'm waiting until 4:30pm today and tomorrow, my supervisor and I will be contacting the ombudsman, the dean, etc. I am eating ice cream to deal with the stress lol
  2. I completed the first draft of another op-ed. Yay! Plus I submitted one paper for scientific publication this week.
  3. It’s not the university, it’s the examiner! She s external to my university. The university has sent her multiple emails too. yes there is an ombudsperson, I will email them as well.
  4. I really hope the examiner submitted her report yesterday, and my university will see it on Monday. that's my hope. If on Monday I still get no news, I will do what you've just said. But I've already sent multiple emails to the departement, even sent to them a recommended letter by mail to stress on the importance of the situation. I cannot contact the examiner directly (conflict of interest). The university has also contacted the examiner multiple times in order for her to submit it on time. It's on the examiner's side. My family and I are considering going further than that (they're liable like you've said) if my lose my admission offer and scholarship because of the examiner. I am advocating for myself, but there's not much I can do at the moment. I will let monday come and if by the end of the day, I get no news, I am emailing the Dean.
  5. I actually don’t have until the end of the month. I have to submit the Final version of my thesis by Aug. 15 in order to graduate on time.
  6. She was asked twice by my university if she was available to re-evaluate my thesis this summer, both times she said yes.
  7. I need to graduate by the end of the month. Otherwise, I am losing my scholarship and admission offer.
  8. First deadline was this Wednesday. Then, it was supposed to be today. I still have no news about my grade.
  9. I can’t. i am still waiting for my grade
  10. Hello everyone, I keep getting dozens of requests per week of people who want me to mentor them, to give them advice on graduate school or to provide help with their scholarship application. I feel exhausted simply by taking a look at my inbox. I have been ignoring most of the messages for now because I have zero time and energy right now. Is there a better way to handle this? Maybe starting a blog?
  11. Has anyone here applied for one their grant for research semester abroad?
  12. Still no news. I'm afraid she will be more severe this time than the first evaluation...
  13. Many people around me think the same as you two @telkanuru and @LEANCO10. I really want to believe she has good faith. Worst case scenario, we're going to appeal to get a new examiner. I feel more confident about the quality of my work since three different professors said my thesis is above the standards for a master's thesis.
  14. Hello, I will be living on my own for the first time. I do know how to cook, but I feel like meal prepping is going to be a challenge...any tips or apps on how to make that process smooth for someone who used to live in a big family?
  15. It’s 4 weeks at my university. Next week it’s going to be four weeks since resubmission. But on the first submission, the examiner gave her report one month late.
  16. Thanks @LEANCO10. It's been a teaching moment for me too. If I pass, I definetly have a lot more skills to persevere at the PhD level and in academia. It was not fun, but I hope it will all soon be behind me so I can move forward with my dream of doing a PhD.
  17. Thanks. Am still waiting for my grade.
  18. I'm a qualitative researcher and I believe that it's often an interative process (going back and forth). A lot of people talk about the IMRaD strategy (Intro, Methods, Results and Discussion). I would add stuff to my literature review as I was going along, especially when I was doing data analysis. I rarely heard people writing their chapters in the order they are being presented though.
  19. Yes! That’s what I ended up doing
  20. I didn’t have any publications when I got Vanier. But you should definitely add any conference presentations and RAships you’ve had.
  21. Yes, add the research assistantship
  22. I have taken a look at the names of the evaluating committees before out of curiosity for my field. I have noticed a few names coming again and again every year of the contest, but most of the names are different from year to year. I believe they don't announce who are on the committees before the competition is entirely over. http://www.vanier.gc.ca/en/selection_committee_members_2018-2019.html
  23. One of my op-eds got published! And another pitch got accepted to another newspaper!
  24. Okay, so I've been informed that the contest will probably open in September, although not confirmed 100%.
