  1. Last year, they send me an email inviting me to look at my results in the portal (ResearchNet). But the results weren't in the email, you really had to log in into the portal to see them. I received my answer on the first Monday of April in the afternoon (around 3pm) last year.
  2. What do you mean you got grilled in your area of work and why you wanted the scholarship? Better luck next year, we'll try again!
  3. I started meditating two weeks ago, and I am surprised about how much it has helped me. Every day, around 8pm, I take 30 minutes to reflect on how I feel, why I feel the way I do, and I meditate and do vizualization exercices with an app. My mental state has changed in the space of a couple of days. I'm quite impressed.
  4. I had received the email in the afternoon last year.
  5. Spring is here, and I feel happy.
  6. It's interesting that you've raised these questions, because there is a very high chance that I will move back to my hometown this summer due to COVID-19. At this stage, I don't want an extension, but it's true that I may get sick due to the pandemic, you never know. Thanks for your insights.
  7. I never saw how I was ranked by my university, so I have no idea.
  8. last year, I received an email on April 1st in the afternoon.
  9. My understanding is that everyone receives an email inviting them to look at the results in the portail, regardless of if you've been successful or not. At least, that's how it was last year if I recall correctly.
  10. Hello everyone, So I'm a few weeks away from the start of my comprehensive doctoral exam!!! To be honest, even if I am a little bit nervous, I'm also very happy to be almost done with coursework. I am in the social sciences. I was wondering if you had any tips or suggestions in terms of going about it. What was your process when you were doing your comprehensive exam back in the days? I have already identified a list of most of the major publications/books/articles on my topic and made an annotated bibliography that I updated on and off all throughout this semester. I have brainstormed over the last few weeks two potential questions for my exam that I have to discuss with my thesis director and doctoral committee (my questions will be chosen in consultation with me and them). I don't know if this is the best way to do this, but I just wanted to have "something" to discuss with them, and not start from scratch. I am totally open to their comments and suggestions. I'm actually very happy with my committee and my thesis director, I have very good feelings about the people that will guide me through this journey.
  11. Application submitted for a leadership fellowship. I'm quite confident about it. I've got a (paid) op-ed that will be published in April in a very important magazine And it's right on my doctoral research topic!
  12. Hello, I will probably do a visiting research scholar opportunity at uPenn (Annenberg) in 2021-2022. I am just waiting for them to send me the formal invitation letter, but things are almost official. Does anyone here attend this school of communication? How is it? I don't know anyone there, at all. I'm not the shy type, but I'd love to connect with someone who's currently studying/working there. I come from outside of the field of communications, I want to be there to complement my current degree and doctoral thesis. Thank you!
  13. Yes, the results come out in early April. I remember last year, I got my letter on the first business day of April (April 3rd it was if I remember correctly)
  14. Yes, I also live with mental health challenges and have been for many years. However, I am beyond surprised by now calm and relax I am right now. I am coping very well with everything that is happening. I guess, when you experience the worst, and you've survived it, nothing can scare you much after that...that's the only explanation I have. Stay strong! ❤️
  15. I know a many people in my field for whom it's also been the case.
  16. What do you mean by unused funding?
  17. Usually it's in early April
  18. Hello! Does anyone here has a critical appraisal worksheet for qualitative studies? I can't find one that would be useful to me on the internet. If you do not have one, what are the elements that should be in it? (I'm trying to conduct a scoping review, and I would like to pre-assess the articles I have found with some type of grid or worksheet before reading them entirely) Thanks!
  19. I'm very empathetic when I think of all the people with mental health challenges (especially anxiety) who must be going through an extremely though time right now due to COVID-19. I am not that anxious of a person, and I cannot imagine. I was bombarded with messages, emails, notifications, news reports, every 5 minutes (literally) on COVID-19. I can't imagine those who feel extremely anxious over this.
  20. Following. My only income is my scholarship, and I can't "save" to buy a home, and I don't know if it'd be accepted as a mortage by banks anyways. Plus, the fact that I am single (and have always been, and am not hopeful that it'll change in the next couples of years) makes it hard for me to envision buying a home both for financial and personal reasons... I know I could buy a home on my own at a certain point, if I had the financial means to do it. But the fact that I am single makes it hard for me to vizualize those sort of things, almost as if I don't feel like a real adult yet, for some reason, although I do live on my own appartement and am able to manage my life.
  21. Hello! How can I be added to the slack group conversation? I am applying next spring and would need advice.
