    My decision was between UCLA and UC Berkeley. I chose Berkeley for many reasons, but the most important was the support I would have with my kids from family, Berkeley's student parent community, and student parent grant. UCLA has some resources but doesn't compare to Berkeley's. As a mother of two, I know I am going to need a strong support system to get through grad school and make the most out of my experience.

    I'm actually considering UCLA. They might give me all the funding I need for the 2 years! I'm hoping to know for sure this week, but I can't deny it will sting a little to say no to Berkeley.

    Have any of you received a CalSWEC application? Who is planning to attend the event next week?

    Any advice on negotiating funding? I never knew this was negotiable and don't know if this is done with Financial Aid, Major Dept, or Grad Admission. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm still freaking out about this fellowship! No official word yet on my nomination. That's all I need to accept.

    Hello, When were you notified of the fellowship? I was notified of my nomination last week but nothing official from the Grad Division yet.

    Hello, I received word of my nomination yesterday. I have no idea if I should start celebrating yet. Are nominations from each dept. sent to the graduate division just for final approval or have you heard of anyone being nominated and not getting the fellowship?

    Major sticker shock. Really made me regret not applying for Title IV-E.

    I called financial aid and they did not have my social in order to access my FAFSA! Log into MyUCLA>Settings> enter SSN !

    I am a student parent and relocating my entire family... need all the help I can get. If anyone knows if UCLA offers a student parent grant like UCB, please let me know. I called financial aid too late today and have sent many emails to try to get some information. Thanks!

    bayareakid & Paola congrats! I also applied to SF State and haven't heard back. I am a student parent and would get more financial/moral support from Berkeley than State. Berkeley has amazing support for student with families. UC Berkeley also has an amazing alumni network. bayareakid wait, isn't UCB $11,113.25 /year or did I miss something?

    My letter said the same. I don't think they would be so cruel to disappoint us at the end though. Lol If it's any comfort UCLA did the same and I got the official acceptance 1week later.

    I got in!! I applied to the Health concentration!! No fellowship but I got in!! ????
