  1. @ElKel87 No, unfortunately no interviews yet. I'll take a look at the portal. Any luck on your end on other schools? Are you a CSD undergrad major? I feel like it's so hard for me because I don't have an undergrad in that; however, I won't make that as an excuse xD haha.
  2. Right now my current plan is, if I don't get accepted, I am going to take online courses to full-fill the prereqs since I do not have my undergrad in CSD. I'm also applying for local community colleges to get into the SLPA program. I hope something works out for us all either way. It breaks my heart when I read about someone wanting to get into their desired program so badly, because it reminds me of myself. Good luck to you! I hope for the best!! I've been rejected from 5 schools and on the waiting list for 1....
  3. @mis_spit We're on the same boat!! I'm glad I'm not feeling alone on this. How many more schools did you apply for? I hope we both get into Western, maybe we can help each other out if and when we get in *crossing fingers*! We are LITERALLY on the same boat! Just reading through your comment, I'm thinking to myself "wow, this sounds like my situation RIGHT NOW!" Maybe volunteer on the weekends if you don't work the weekends. I know it depends on what shift you work that will allow you to volunteer on the weekdays. My schedule varies but I can still volunteer and I don't work weekends. However, I would like to just get into a program and start working towards my career. If not, I'd like to find a new job and then some volunteer opportunities.
  4. I applied to 9 schools. I got denied from 5 schools and then I'm on the waiting list for one. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other schools. I'm so nervous! I hope you get in!!
  5. WOW! You heard back from NYM? I haven't heard anything. Should I be concerned?

  7. @katelynmarie I'm surprised you haven't heard anything from App yet. I got rejected . I'm trying to stay hopeful because Western Carolina said I'm on the waiting list; however, I don't know if that's just another way of saying "you've been denied" without actually saying it. At this rate, because of all of my rejections, I just want someone to take me in. I want to go to school so badly and work on getting to my career already. I've been working for a little over a year now and I know that I definitely do not want to do what I'm doing now for the rest of my life. I hope you get accepted to all of them ahaha!
  8. @Brandon Causey I'm actually in the process of applying for SC too! I had a question though, on the 300 words or less objective, did you end up handwriting it or typing? I couldn't type on that same page they provided us and had to provide it on a separate sheet. What did you end up doing, if you don't mind me asking? Thank you! Good luck to you as well!
  9. @katelynmarie Most definitely, I hope we all hear from them soon! I'm constantly checking my emails EVERY MINUTE and I'm feeling all sorts of way because of the wait. I think it's a little excessive but....I want to get into a program SO BAD! I wish the best for you! Which offer are you thinking about taking at this moment?
  10. @Alicia124 Thank you so much for your encouraging words!! It means so much. I will definitely take your advice! I'm just glad to know that I'm not alone on this. I wish that EVERYONE gets accepted but I know that's not how it's going to be. I've received at least one "hopeful" answer from Western Carolina. I'm on the waitlist. I've seen forums that says being on the waitlist isn't entirely bad. I still have hope! If not this year, next year. Regarding recommendation letters, I have three professors that are willing to stay on my reference/recommendation letter list which is great. They're my professor's from my undergrad. If I'm taking leveling courses online from an out of state program, what do you recommend I do to develop relationship with the professors there? Again, I really appreciate your encouraging words! I hope you get your desired school and blessings come your way in your career path!
  11. @ifs1023 I haven't heard from NYMC also. I'm feeling super anxious!
  12. @plume I applied to WCU and they've put me on their waitlist. Have they sent out results to you at all? I'm also waiting for Appalachian. I see that some people has already heard results back from App State, I'm wondering if I should be worried.
  13. Hello aspiring SLP friends, I'm so happy to discover this forum but most of all it's like a great support system. I'm feeling all sorts of way because I received the decision letter from about 4/9 schools I applied to. I've been rejected from 3 out of those 4. I'm on the waiting list for Western Carolina. Does anyone know if that is a good thing? Like everyone else, I just want this waiting game to be over with. Good luck to everyone! I wish that everyone got accepted. I'd like to be given that chance to show them what I am capable of and I'm sure that's how everyone feels too.
  14. Hello friends from the internet, I just recently discover this gradcafe forum and I think it's AMAZING. I just wanted to know how some of you are coping with rejections from some schools. I applied for Fall 2017 to about 8-9 schools and so far I've heard back from about 4 schools regarding not getting accepted into the program. Should I have applied for more school? I applied last year to about 3 and learned my lesson because I should've applied for more. I saw a post somewhere that said he/she applied to about 20 schools. I didn't graduate with Communication Science Disorder or Speech Path as my major for my undergrad. I feel like that makes it harder to get into the program. How are some of you coping with the rejection, if you've received decision letters already. To be honest, I'm a little sad because this is my second time trying. I keep thinking to myself that I'm not working hard enough or not doing enough and that's why I am not getting into the program. I tried to pull myself together and applied to a leveling program at University of Montana, which I'm happy to say I got into that way in case I don't get into any school, I can prepare myself for then next cycle. Anyways, if you all could share some of your stories. I hope to recover from this soon and get back on my feet!
