Anyone have any intel on whether UNLV and Boston have informed all accepted/waitlisted poetry applicants? I'm assuming rejection from both at this point.

Minnesota has started sending out acceptances, so maybe you won't have to wait much longer for WUSTL!

I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of Midwestern schools are late with notifications this cycle. They're busy battling the polar vortex!

Congrats to @jennymerri, @Imke, and @dsbanis! Do you guys know when they typically send location assignments? I feel like people have already given me information about that before, but I can't remember anything off the top of my head.

Is Ireland also much later than usual this year? I don't know what Germany's problem is; it hasn't been this late in years. I'm at the point where "eager anticipation" is turning to "deep annoyance."

Am I wrong to be kind of miffed with them for taking so long to notify? I'm sure they have a reason, but no one is telling us anything. It's been almost six months since the national deadline.

Ditto for Germany ETA. I want to get on with my life! D=

This is only my first time applying for Fulbright, but my plan is to apply to grad schools a couple years out of undergrad and I see where you're coming from with the references -- I already have anxiety about my grad school apps a year or two beforehand. I think it's great and shows a lot of character that you've had the perseverance to apply three times, though! I hope you get bumped up to finalist and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Maybe next Wednesday? Since they seem to be unwilling to notify on days other than Tuesday through Thursday? I'm annoyed because I've wasted my spring break in a state of distraction, worrying about this. It seemed like they were making a greater effort to notify before the end of March, which is good because people's grad school and other grant offers often have early April acceptance deadlines, but it looks like they're reverting to April this year.

I'm getting to a point of cynicism about it where I feel like if they can notify next week, they will notify next week, especially because they notified for research early in the morning. And it's already 3 p.m. Eastern. I would love it if they'd prove me wrong but I can't get my hopes up.

A professor recently recommended it to me, actually. Apparently it's an up-and-coming program with respected faculty. They have a strong international focus and require that MFA students study/write abroad for a semester, which could be a plus or a negative depending on your preferences. I like the lit mag they put out (Interim, which you can find online).

I've started having dreams about it. I can't even escape in sleep.

Thanks to everyone who talked about their interview/hiring experiences! It's already 3:00 Eastern, so I don't think Germany ETA will notify today, so it's probably time to start sending in applications and resumes. My phone pinged at 6 this morning and it woke me up and I couldn't fall back asleep after that because I was so convinced today would be the day, but I guess not -- better luck tomorrow, hopefully! I feel like that's what I've been saying every day since notifications started, lol.

I've been putting off applying to full time jobs because I wanted to know about the Fulbright and be sure I could safely accept any offers beforehand (I don't want to burn any bridges with so little work experience), but I'm graduating in May and waiting is starting to seem like a bad move. If Germany doesn't notify today or tomorrow (or if I get bad news today or tomorrow lol) I think I'll just start applying places.

Thank you for this post! I think you've made some great points. If condemning the dehumanization of refugees is too controversial for the program, then maybe it's the wrong program. It wasn't even my intention to be political on my application. I think the refugee question is a question of human rights. I have great respect for the German government for treating it as such. And it's also true that it would take little more than a quick glance at my social media pages to see that I'm loudly anti-Trump as well.

Yeah, I was thinking about changes in the political climate since Trump's election. IIRC I talked about the necessity of intercultural understanding in reference to the far-right hostility towards refugees in Germany (they've committed various acts of arson in and near refugee shelters).

If you shot yourself in the foot, I might have as well. I kind of implicitly dissed the far-right RE: refugees in my application. The application was due in September, and at the time, it didn't seem controversial at all. My general sentiments are the same; just having an idea of what I will or won't be doing after graduation would make the idea of the future less daunting.

Thanks! I went to Mainz for a day trip when I did a short high school exchange with a Gymnasium in Wiesbaden. I remember it having a cool Romanesque cathedral and a printing museum. Did you like living there? It seems like it could be a nice alternative to a place like Frankfurt if you like cities but not huge cities. @Horb I'll hope for Tuesday now!

Thanks, I hope you get the research grant as well! I have two friends who have done the ETA in Germany and both seem to have had a positive experience. I'm telling myself not to get my hopes up, but the way it feels waiting for notification has made me realize how much I want it.

It seems like Germany prefers Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it also seems like they usually wait til the last week of March or first week of April, which makes me even more nervous because my future is really uncertain at the moment. I applied for the ETA. How about you? I'm on mobile and can't see that little sidebar thing where people post what they applied for.

Any chance Germany will notify today? I created an account here because the wait is giving me so much anxiety.
