  1. I see that several people have gotten accepted to the ICD at the University of Minnesota - congrats! Were you accepted with no phone interview? Did the acceptance come from a program coordinator or a specific faculty member you're planning to work with?
  2. Yes, I think both of them have. You're right, this process is a mess!
  3. To the people who've gotten invites at Minnesota ICD: are you in the clinical track? Did you get an invite without a phone interview?
  4. I'm waiting on this, too! Seems like they typically send out interview invites the first weekend of January (aka potentially tomorrow).
  5. I had a phone interview on 12/28, at the end of which the PI said she had a few more people to talk to before making decisions on in-person interviews. I got my official interview invite today.
  6. I was wondering the same thing, but I know last year they only had a couple faculty taking students and this year they have many more, so I'm thinking that might account for the delay!
  7. Don't count on hearing from UCLA anytime soon, I heard from a grad student there that they haven't even been able to start looking at applications yet because of the sudden unforeseen switch in application platforms that happened in November. It'll be a while!
  8. This was an individual email from the POI. I'll pm you the person's initials.
  9. Glad I'm not the only one! Cats make everything better.
  10. I know it's early in the process, but watching interview invites go out in the past few days (and hearing nothing from my POIs) has flipped my mindset in the past week from, "I've got this, I'm a qualified applicant" to "I'm never going to get into grad school!!!" Exercising, writing papers, and playing with my cats is keeping me just barely sane.
  11. Anyone else started the SDSU/UCSD app? The mandatory field for "number of peer-reviewed publications" only allows you to enter a number between 1-100. Either it's a glitch or that'll be one program off my list, unless my paper reviewers hurry up...
  12. Some schools have already started updating their websites with professors who are/aren't taking students this year. I'm 3 for 3 with professors I wanted to work with who aren't taking someone. Anyone else worried this will be an especially competitive year due to federal budget cuts (aka diminished grant funding)? ...Although I'm not sure how much the proposed cuts have actually taken effect yet, so maybe the consequences won't be seen until next year's application cycle.
  13. Hi all! I've been lurking for a while and will finally be applying this year for the 2018 admission cycle. I'm at a conference this weekend and attended a talk by APA about grad school admissions. I wasn't aware of this and am sure I'm not the only one, so I wanted to give everyone a heads up that they'll be using a centralized application website this year (akin to the Common App for undergrad) called PsyCas. The universal parts of the application, like applicant information, transcripts, etc., will only need to be entered once, and each school also has a custom section for its individualized materials. I'm fairly certain this is the first year that applications are being submitted this way. Half of me is relieved that this should make the process less time-consuming, but half of me is wary of possible technological issues that inevitably come with piloting a program like this for the first time. They also noted that schools have to opt in to using the program, so it's not guaranteed that it will be completely universal. What are everyone's thoughts?
