  1. Randomly saw this post and know nothing about speech language pathology, but I did undergrad at UF and it definitely seemed like the program was getting a lot of attention. As in, I always hear people talking about SLP. I've also been living in Gainesville for 15 years and would be happy to answer any questions you have about the city and its culture. Personally, I'm trying to get out of Gainesville to go to graduate school, but Gainesville isn't a terrible place to be for a couple years. Gainesville is definitely a college town. It is not much of a city and it is in the middle of a swamp. However, the cost of living here is really cheap. The high student population means that there are lots of restaurants and bars. If you like nature, Gainesville has beautiful parks and trails. At my favorite park, there is a trail that goes right by the water and there are always alligators out on the trail sunning. One day I went out there and there was even a herd of bison. On the other hand, our summers are brutal and Florida heat is unlike any other heat I've experienced anywhere in the country. Whichever you choose, I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.
  2. You guys can add me to the list of the rejected. Congrats to those that got in. I have a few good options already so I'm okay. In fact, @lackey Maybe I'll see you at Harris!
  3. The good news: I've heard from Harris that the vast majority (maybe even as high as 90%) receive scholarship funding. The bad news is that the average funding is $9,000. Middle of the pack sounds about right to me.
  4. I was just notified an hour ago. Email to check website. Rejected from MSCAPP but accepted into MPP. Not at all disappointed.
  5. Anyone else apply to the Fels MPA for 2018 and get the e-mail today that they are not admitting any full-time students? Trying not to read into it too much but I can't help but think this says something about this year's applicant pool. As other people have noted elsewhere on this forum, I'm assuming applicant numbers are down because of Trump, the potential tax plan, and other variables that are making MPAs look less desirable. Really wishing they had said something BEFORE other schools' deadlines had passed... Still, at least it's not a rejection letter.
