  1. I'm freaking out because I had a friend tell me that CSDCAS takes four weeks to "process" applications therefore you NEED to have all apps due 4 weeks BEFORE the deadline. I knew it was always smart to turn in applications early but I do not understand this. If this is true, why would they write the deadline as say for example, December 15, when in actuality this means it's all due November 15th? Also was does it mean that an application has to be "processed"? Does this also mean that when asking professors for LORs we should give them the 4 week prior deadline? I just need some clarification on what exactly is a deadline now...
  2. So I had made tables of the stats from EdFind of schools I am interested in to help me decide which schools I should apply to. I made my initial list probably less than a month ago. However, I was checking EdFind today and noticed that all the stats for the schools I am applying to changed. I'm assuming this means EdFind was updated?! The stats i'm seeing listed now have, for the most part, much lower GRE score averages and higher acceptance rates. For example about a month ago I recorded these stats for Western Michigan: GRE- 154V 152Q 4AW GPA- 3.49-3.0 # of offers- 76 # of applications- 339 And now EdFind has these stats for Western Michigan: GRE- 150V 150Q 4AW GPA- 3.0-3.0 # of offers- 150 # of applications- 284 I'm a little confused on what to believe now! Does anyone know how often ASHA updates their EdFind? Because these are big changes (for ex. it changes WMU's acceptance rate from about 22% to now 52%)! Hopefully the stats on the site are more accurate now. Has anyone else noticed this?
  3. So I took the GRE twice. I studied for 2 months then took it the first time and got a 304. I took it a second time after another month of only studying quant and got a 310. So about 3 months total.
  4. Magoosh is the best prep for the quant section. I went from a quant score in the low 40s prior to studying to a 152 after studying because of Magoosh and I am HORRIBLE at math.
  5. I'm only choosing from the schools on my list. I already worked hard to narrow it down.
  6. I am working on finalizing my list of schools to apply to. I have about 7 locked in that I will for sure apply to and I am looking to add 1-2 more from the following list: Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Purdue Ball State Penn State U of Pittsburgh U of Wisconsin Milwaukee U of Wisconsin Madison My stats include a CSD major GPA of 3.90, GRE scores of 158V 152Q 4AW, I serve as a board member at my school's NSSLHA chapter, I have experience working with kids, and I will have about 30 observation hours from various locales by the time the apps are due. My overall GPA is harder for me to calculate because I attended a community college before my present university My GPA at the community college was about a 3.5 and my overall GPA at my present university is 3.96. Which of the schools from that list does it look like I'd have the best shot at? Also if anyone knows anything about the schools on this list I'd love to hear whatever information you have! Just a note, I am primarily interested in the clinical side of SLP, especially within medical settings. I also am looking for these last 1-2 schools I apply to to be less competitive because a lot of the other schools I am applying for are very competitive.
  7. Has anyone gotten into or applied to any grad schools in Michigan? If so I'd love to hear details on specific schools and what your stats were that either got you in or rejected. I'm primarily interested in Michigan State, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Grand Valley State, and Wayne State. I was previously interested in Eastern Michigan but their website says they're currently on ASHA probation so now I'm probably going to skip applying there. Any insight is much appreciated!
  8. I always see posts about if people who have lower GPAs and lower GRE scores but a lot of extra work they can put on their applications have a shot at getting into graduate school. But what about those of us who are in the exact opposite boat? I have a 3.96 GPA (with the only class I've ever gotten lower than an A in being an audiology course), got a 304 on my GRE with a 5 in Analytical Writing (but I am retaking it to see if I can raise my low quant score) but have virtually NO shadowing/observation hours, no volunteer work, and really no in-field experience at all. The only "extra" thing I have is that I am an involved board member at my school's speech language and hearing association. I am working on setting up some shadowing/observation hours (side note: what is a good amount of total observation hours to have?). Just wonder if there is hope for someone who has little in-field experience to get into grad school if my grades are overall strong??? I'd love to hear from anybody who was in my same boat or has any insight on this or advice for me.
