  1. Man, Assistant and Associate Professors really can't catch a break, can they! To be honest, I think that guy is being a little too punctilious (no offense, @punctilious). Given the fairly broad etymology of "professor," I'd say that even non-tenure-track instructors at universities deserve the title, if they so desire.
  2. Hey, everyone! Sorry I've missed you all over the last couple days. We've been in panic mode at work for the last week, so I haven't had as much time to be on the forum. So, first, a huge congrats to @Mandasplaining, @Isocrates2.o, @bigfluffybearcat, @bpilgrim89, @E. Coronaria, @Zooks, @Mellowyellow, @chouette, @Noire et Étrange, @OceansAreBlue, @Warelin, @LeeLeeCzechIrish, @Kilos, @Melville, @colin_cloute, and all the others who've received good news while I've been gone! Second, I just want to say how proud I am of you all! It makes me more happy than you could possibly know to see that your hard work, dedication, and passion have paid off in such fantastic ways! Also, to those of you who are still waiting on good news, keep the hope alive! I'm sending all my good vibes to each of you! Remember: like pregnancy, it takes only one acceptance to get things going! So, from now until April 15, my fingers will be continually crossed (but don't expect too many posts from me because, you know, typing...). Anyway, I think one of my coworkers is trying to douse the place is gasoline, so I should probably take care of that. Peace, and keep the acceptances up, my friends!

  5. I'm bummed as well – mostly because I would've loved to study with Elisha Cohn and Jonathan Culler – but I'll live. I'm taking solace in the fact that we're wanted elsewhere
  6. My best friend's parents went to Cornell, and they warned me, when I applied, about the Grey Sludge (nasty, dirty, snow and sleet) that visits Ithaca from January to April. Alas, I'll never know it now
  7. You're right, and I'm not terribly disappointed. But still, WHY DON'T THEY ALL WANT ME!!!??? Just kidding, of course
  8. Johns Hopkins is out for me I guess I'll never know the wondrous splendors of Baltimore, MD!
  9. I'd recommend a 90 Minute IPA Don't worry; if you send the applications, the decisions will come. Crossing my fingers for good ones!

  15. It's like when someone responds to you on Tinder* two months after your initial message: "Sry, not that into u, good luck!" *Not on Tinder, but have heard the stories!
  16. What kind of grinds my gears, @Crow T. Robot, is that, from the Results board at least, Berkeley Rhetoric didn't send out rejections until March 22!!! That's a long time in limbo!
