  1. SkyScanner is great too
  2. Yeah, you’re overthinking it. Do what you want to do. If they evaluate you based on a crack iPhone, you probably don’t want to go there anyways.
  3. Yeah, someone had informed me they received an official invitation from the department so I think it's unlikely I'll receive an invitation (unless something anomalous occurs like someone drops out perhaps). Disappointing, but life moves on
  4. Anyone apply to UNC Chapel Hill in a non-Clinical field? Their Clinical webpage indicates all invitations have been sent out, but I am unsure if this is the case for all fields of psych at UNC. Anyone know? I saw one invitation for Social at UNC on the results page, but that's it.
  5. It's so funny to hear this. I was just discussing the possibility of joining a new faculty to a colleague/friend, and he heavily discouraged it. He said new faculty can be too hands-on and want to be intimately involved in the process (e.g. still in post-doc, grad student mode), and this can result in a loss of valuable learning experiences for you. He also indicated that more senior faculty tend to have a more established routine and practice of pushing out publications that has been developed with years of practice, and it's not something new faculty have yet developed/established. I am sure it comes down a lot to the personality and experience of the new faculty. It's just curious that there are such diverging opinions on the matter.
  6. Congratulations to your dog on his PhD btw. Very impressive, considering the lack of opposable thumbs and all
  7. Yeah, I don't know about you guys but I have had informal interviews with three but not a single formal invitation yet. I am surprised. Do things usually develop this late or am I just unlikely to receive an invitation?
  8. I understand it’s stressful and I am concerned too but I wouldn’t be so fatalistic. Just look at LeftSkew’s data he posted— Tomorrow and next week are some of the biggest periods for invites. There’s still time.
  9. It appears that Ohio State has sent out all invitations and interviews have already occurred or occur mid- to late-January? Anyone know if that's correct?
  10. I'd say if you explain that you are taking an antibiotic that interacts negatively with alcohol, you should be fine. If they judge you still and insist that you drink, it seems to me they've got some issues haha
  11. UNC-Chapel Hill's Clinical Psychology webpage says, "All applicants invited for an interview have been notified. Good luck to everyone." Anyone know if this may generalize to all fields within the psychology department or if it's specific to only Clinical at UNC?
  12. Got it. I actually applied to the Social Psychology PhD program at UNC-Chapel Hill. Would you assume the deadline is the same for for invitations in all of UNC’s psychology programs or do you think they may still be sending out invites?
  13. Am I mistaken, or doesn’t that says the Interview Notification Deadline is January 20th, 2018?
  14. I saw that someone applying to UNC Chapel Hill in Clinical Psychology indicated that they were rejected via the website? Where did you determine that you were rejected on the website? I don't see anything when I visit the page or my application.

  16. Hey, if anyone is interested, UNC Chapel Hill lists their final date for sending out invites for clinical psychology as January 20th. See here for a timeline. It is not clear whether these dates generalize to other departments within psychology, but I would assume it does. The following is listed for the notification date as well: Interview Notification Date All applicants invited for an interview will be notified no later than this date. Some faculty may contact applicants informally before this date to ask questions regarding the application. Being contacted, or not contacted, by faculty member for such an informal discussion does not signal who will be invited for a formal interview. Please note: Candidates applying for entry in Fall 2018 may hear about interviews at different times during the application process, as faculty may contact applicants invited for an interview at different times. When all applicants invited for an interview have been notified, this website will be promptly updated. Applicants not invited for an interview are notified by UNC Graduate School. We are sorry that this process sometimes takes longer than is optimal. Again, please note that all applicants who have proceeded to the next stage of the admission process will have been invited for an interview before January 20, with most hearing in the first two weeks of January 2018.
  17. Yeah, I would be curious to hear as well. If you would like to keep private though, I understand though.
  18. I noticed on the survey responses that someone applying to UCSB's psychology department received an invitation. Anyone know if they have completed all of their invitations? It seems that last cycle, they completed invitations on approximately January 5th-6th.
  19. Just speaking from what I have observed from the results page and people's comments here but it seems to me that social psychology program's are sending invites quite late, relative to other psychology fields. I really have only seen a few social psychology postings whereas I've seen several postings for pretty much every other field.
  20. Anyone know if every formal invitation is preceded by an informal conversation/interview? Or is that just a practice that some faculty engage in?
  21. I understand where you're coming from, but I wouldn't worry yet. It seems that historically, most invites for social psychology occur on January 5th or 6th, January 11th or 12th, or possibly later. Besides that, I also just looking at the frequency of counseling and clinical psychology invites relative to other fields of psychology should be informative. Granted, there are likely more people applying to clinical. But it does seem as if the invites for clinical psychology just seem to come earlier.
  22. Looks like interviews for UCR weren't offered until January 11 and 12th last year. I would wait until early January before you get concerned.
  23. To be honest with you, based on what the survey page says, I would say it looks like this for you: UC Berkeley: Almost certainly rejected UCLA: Likely rejected (Some emails seem to have went out for invites this week) NYU: Maybe rejected Columbia: Maybe rejected (Saw an invite for unspecified psychology field) I wouldn't lose hope though. It seems a lot of schools don't get back to you until after the first week of January.
  24. I sincerely think you don't need to worry. Myself, as well as various others, are also social psychology and haven't heard from anyone (besides maybe some informal conversations). In examining past trends, it seems like some social psychology programs reach out around 12/20-12/23, but then it seems like a fair amount reach out and invite around the first week to week and a half of January. It seems like the very earliest interview weekend I have seen is 1/19-1/21. I think there's time for things to play out and end up positive.
  25. Anyone hear anything yet? I had an informal interview/conversation last Wednesday, but that's it. I am getting increasingly anxious about the fact that I haven't heard anything thus far.
